Is Scrap bugged?

I got myself prepped for my second attempt at the final boss by scrapping some of the items I didn't need for the final level. On the final level I went to the small island bazaar off to the side before the boss fight.

I got lucky on my options to 3D Print with 2 red and 3 green choices and I was feelin good with 5 green scrap and 2 red scrap. Only it didn't use up the scrap for 3D Printing. It used a 2 of the green scrap and didn't touch the red scrap and just used up my real items instead.

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered by that. Just think, "eh w/e I still got awesome red and green items anyways, who cares if I still have scrap leftover." But the issue this caused was that during the final phase of the boss fight; when your items are taken away and slowly given back to you as you damage the boss, it gave me all my scrap back first (5 pieces) and none of the real items making the final phase a very slow grind with not much happening until I was suddenly 1-shot by a missile launcher from the boss out of nowhere.

This also has not been the only time my scrap of any color wasn't taken and used by a 3D Printer. Has anybody else had any issues with their scrap not getting used?

Why would it use a Red tier item when you need Green tier items?

I might be misunderstanding the definition of the colored scrap, so please correct me if I'm wrong. But I though that the colored scrap would be prioritized by the 3D printers before your other items. So if I'm using a 3D printer for a brilliant behemoth and it costs 5 items, shouldn't it use the 2 red scrap and then 3 green scrap that I had in my inventory before using up my other items?

Again if I'm misunderstanding what the scrapper/scrap is then please let me know, knowledge is power.

If i'm reading this correctly you might have mistaken the 3D printer for the Pool (I don't know the name of them). The 3D printers are found randomly though all normal levels and the Pools are found in the bazaar and the final level. Scrap is always taken if it matches the color of the item in the 3D printer and can be taken randomly by the Pools. I've not done too much research and this is just what I have noticed so far.

The "x items" for 3d printers and the pools are color coded. For example, a white 3d printer needs white items, and won't take green items, even if you have green scrap. I haven't experimented with the pool things in terms of scrap yet, but that is likely what you saw, the thing you used was asking for green items.

Green printers use green scrap and white printers use white scrap. You can't use green scrap in a white printed. For the cauldron shops it is bugged, as using 1 green scrap can be used instead of paying a full 5 green items. Hopoo said this was fixed but I've still been experiencing it.

Red scrap is only used on red item printers which are incredibly rare.

As everyone said, 3d printers and the item traders do use scrap before they use items.

But the green item trader only accepts white scrap. The red item trader only accepts green scrap.

The red scrap you had does not get used by item traders. As someone said, it can only be used in a red 3d printer.

Sadly scrap isn't just a trade value, it is basically only another item of that color rarity. It is just used before actual items when items of that rarity are taken by any printer or trader.

Probably offtopic, but when i tried to scrap used Dio's best friend scrapper stuck in 'recycling' animation and never put out scrap, neither i was able to interact with it.
Seems to be used Dio has it's own color, which doesn't have even cosmetic scrap corresponding to it

Scrap a green item, get a green scrap. Scrap a red item, get a red scrap. etc
