RoR2 vs Deep Rock Galactic
Can someone who has played both compare? Thanks!
引用自 Shaalanaar:
They are different game types though there are some similarities just at a glance.

Deep Rock is a first person perspective game while in RoR2 you stare at the back of the character you are playing

Deep Rock is mission based and something similar to left for dead two, you mine down into an underground cavern for your company, mine some mineral while fighting off the native creatures, then you leave, and the mission is over

In RoR 2 you pretty much play until you are overwhelmed and die, the only real objective is to survive for as long as possible, and you can teleport from one map to another, eventually making a loop and seeing new enemy types on the maps and killing bosses with different abilities

Deep Rock has 4 classes with 2 options for a main weapon, and 2 options for a secondary weapon for each. You customise your loadout before you drop onto the planet and your loadout and playstyle stay consistent for the mission.

Risk of Rain 2 has random items that drop and greatly change the way your character plays. You do not select anything other than your character before starting and you do not have too much of a choice what items will drop. There are some exceptions to this, you can pay currency that you gain while playing to purchase chests that have random items, more expensive chests will drop items from the next teirs and above. There are also item kiosks that have 3 items you can identify visually, and when you purchase one, you lose the ability to buy the other two.

Both games have randomised elements but they are handled very differently in either case. Map generation is mostly random in Deep Rock with only some rooms being templates connected by random tubes. The maps are mostly consistent in RoR2 with the only things that seem to change being some additional side areas that can already be open or closed when the map is entered.

Deep Rock has random resource placement, which only really affects gameplay in the case of Nitra, which is spent for extra ammo for the team. RoR2 has random placements for all the chests and currency tubes. Both are similar in the sense that the variety and amount of their respective resources are randomly determined.

On the surface they have some similar elements but the gameplay and objectives of the games are drastically different.

I should end with, they are both unfinished and both excellent

You really can't go wrong with either of them to be honest. Both are very good from what I have played.

A super simple way to decide is if you have played Left 4 Dead/Evolve and loved them buy Deep Rock. If you've played RoR1/Bind of Issac and loved them buy RoR2 :-)

:golem:

RoR is a roguelike, Deep rock not.

Both amazin in my top indie games of all time.

Deep rock pros has more progression and I agree with Chuffer if you love L4d or evolve then ye thats the game for you. Also Deep rock is the best procedural generation game ever made and the atmosphere is quite simply stunning.

ROR jsut pure action! It is a rogulite so if you all about RNG feel like a god by killing 30 enemies in 1 hit then get that.

My advice is if you plan to play more solo the ROR2 is better for that as Deep rock solo although fun is not the best and if you plan to play with friends then its really your call as both are awsome.

But know this; deep rock is much further along in its developement and is therefore optimized better and feels more complete overall, I think there are more hours of fun to be had in it but thats just personal opionion

This game can drop to 35 fps for me in late game and I have i7/1080/ 16gb Ram but apparently most peoples games are running great and I am just unlucky :(

TO sum up, just buy both they are both indie masterpieces lol

They're completely different games but I think you'll get a lot more time out of deeprock currently. Both of them feel like they run out of steam but RoR2 runs out faster than deeprock.

You can't really compare them you'd just be writing ten thousand differences. Like even the camera perspectives are different, the pacing's different, EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT.

I'd say deep rock is actual coop while RoR is more pointless coop where more people doesn't really add much to the game besides spreading aggro.

Lots of good info about both games.

You should probably mark this as answered now as I see you now own RoR2 by the little mouse icon next to your name. It'll save people giving more input.

Hope you enjoy the game, I'm loving it so far.

While i had a blast with Risk of Rain 2 the last 2 days and will probably in future aswell, it has too less items for now to be really interesting (let alone a lack of stages/areas).
There is no real randomization going on sadly, whereas Deep Rock has.
As soon as Risk of Rain 2 has more items to combine and do weird and fun things with, it will entertain for more. But as of now i feel already that it becomes less interesting the more i play because the variation is lacking.

Deep Rock has a more solid foundation. It has not only many different Biomes and Classes to play with, but also enough upgrades and playstyles, enemies, randomized levels, a vast selection of difficulty, mutators for missions, new missions randomly created every 45 minutes etc etc etc.
And thats ok. As it had a longer development time.

I say if you like (dungeon) crawling go for Deep Rock. In a few weeks or months Risk of Rain 2 will have much more stuff and entertains even more than it can now.
You dont go bad with either though, so no wrong choice to be made at all.

Get DRG, it features more content currently since it's been out for longer.
Get ror2 later.
