The best part about it is that EVERY future level will have a rusty lock box in it (somewhere). So for the cost of 1 white you get a white (or better) item on every future level. Which is still mediocre when you have to (a) find it and (b) have enough levels to make the delayed cost worth it, but in the current (non-Prismatic) game works out to "pretty good."
There will still be a single chest, but the chances of getting better loot (green and red items) increases.
Sure i dropped a legendary once or twice, but i really dislike the key... not to mention that those boxes are a ♥♥♥♥♥ to find.
You gotta invest the time...
80 loot points to get a white item
#keys x20 loot points to get green item
#keys x^2 loot points to get a red item
so if you have 10 keys (80/200/100) you have 80/380(21.05%) for a white, 200/380(52.63%) for a green item, 100/380(26.32%) for a red item.
20 keys is (80/400/400)9.09%/45.45%/45.45%
It basically gets you a free chest in the next level if you can find it, and the chance at greens and reds becomes better the more keys you or your team has.
1 key is basically a free regular chest
4 keys is a 45/45 to get a white or a green
20 keys is a 45/45 to get a green or a red
Also it's basically a really tiny brown shoebox.
