atempting to defeat the spider boss.. failing
First devil may cry and (pretty sure) first boss.
i am playing on what i thouight is easy difficulity but combination of butall attacks, therrifyingly bad camera and weak ranged on my end proves to be impossible. allso what ion the ♥♥♥♥ is with controlls here?!
why would attack be mapped so poorly, yes i tried to change controlls but wow thats not working well enough either

Ahrem sorry for the rant but i have been stuck on this bit for emberassingly long time, i think its the unpredictability of when ranged even goes off and camera being decisevly against even notion of coherence in the bloody room.

what i ask is - how the ♥♥♥♥ i defeat it? ranged attacks barely scratch it and best luck i've had up close was about 10% of damage from its entire healthbar...

Make sure you have Alastor equipped (electric sword). When you fight him, keep as close to him as possible and try your best to dodge his fire balls.

Double jump, and do a downward slash on his back. If you have DT available, then activate it before doing this attack. If this attack hits him at his rear, then you'll cause critical damage to him. On Normal difficulty, he can be beaten with 3 critical hits... Just one should help tremendously if it lands. It's probably not worth going for, but just something to keep in mind. The boss moves around a lot, so until your more comfortable just attack anywhere on his back.

Check the settings on the main menu where all 3 games can be selected. That should tell you what the keyboard controls are.

Git gud and learn to dodge. After all, this is the Dark Souls of-- (gets punched in the face)

It took me a few tries the first time as well. At this point, I can even beat him with the game at double speed.

Did you remember to use DT, by the way?

No idea what DT is sorry for the frustrated tone tho.

I have only played 4th game as that was only one avalible on PC up untill this thing appeared. That one (for as much as i hated camera and odd controll tehre aswell) was much mor playable than this for some reason the constant camera switching keeps getting me stuck on pilars and the bloody fireballs get me.

As mentioned beffore fighting controlls and camera is just devastating to my mind.

On a controller, LB activates your Devil Trigger that makes you almost invincible and deal increased damage. Activate it, get in his face, and pound on him until it runs out. Then take pot shots at him with E+I until your devil trigger regens, and go after him again. He'll die, but not die and you'll have to pound him a little more to thoroughly trash him. It's not terribly hard once you get used to playing DMC 1 again.

This is PC (eition of the) game, i do not have controller (being a Pc gammer and all). i understand that its dessigned for controller and that is most likely why the controlls are such a mess. Nor do i actually understand how to controller even if i had one .(

i was advised to keep ranged attack as primary but due to boss blocking and camera barely ever pointing the way i need it to i can not for the life of Dante get anny signifficant damage, tried mele approach onjly to die in twio-ish shots.

I fail to understand why being a pc gamer would prevent you from having a controller.

If controllers are sold with game consoles, it's only because it's the most convienient and the most polyvalent input device when it comes to gaming.
They are designed for that. It's their sole purpose.
Which is the complete oposite of keyboards and mouse that are mostly designed to point, clic and write, even if some of them have been enhanced for games like RTS , FPS or MMO.

Game consoles does not own controllers and using a controller to play your games on pc does not force you to buy a console.

I agree that some game types benefit from the precision and speed of the Keyboard/mouse combo, but some games are just not meant to be played with them, and you may loose all the fun from those if you persist to play another way than the one intended. Even more if this is your first time playing those games.

Playing Devil May Cry with a keyboard is like drinking a beer with a spoon.
It's not because it's doable than it's pleasant.
Each work its tool.

And come on, a used 360 controller barely cost 10$.

have stinger on alastor and stinger him whenever hes about to charge a fireball
try to constantly jump and slash on top of his back.

try to use devil trigger while doing these
also use a 360 gamepad or something cuz this game is like dark souls its just more intuitive with it

I would like to add one thing.

I'm not saying all of this to pi|/b]ss you off and don't hold any grudges against you, I'm actually trying to save you from the frustation and anger you would get by trying to play those game the (very) hard way.

These games are hard. Especialy for someone who never played them. You will certainly rage and swear a lot of times while playing these, even with a controller.
I wouldn't recomand you to play these games with a keyboard unless you are a hardcore veteran of the franchise or if playing DMC4 on Dante Must Die mode with your keyboard was a piece of cake.

These games are hard enough with a contoller, you must really hate yourself if you trully intend to beat them with your keyboard.

Playing DMC with a keyboard is like playing a racing game with a TV remote.

You cant spam attack him, wait for an opportunity to strike, you'll deal the most damage when standing on him.

Follow the golden rule:
Dodge
Learn
Attack
Air raid, lightning, taunt, repeat

This game was made to play with a gamepad. Its going to very difficult to play this with a Keyboard. Any X360 or X1 is plug and play.
Red Z Apr 2, 2018 @ 5:53am
Jump over him and hit attack until it dies. It deals high damage when hitting its back.

Your real enemy in that fight in particular is the camera.
Try using Stinger (the stabby attack from alastor), and don't forget to use your DT.
