So, to be honest I only use Nevan when I have no other choice, like for the Combat Adjudicator statues. No only it's not even fun to use, but it's pretty hard to maintain a combo with it.
So basically you need a strategy for all situations in order to use it to it's full potential. Just remember one thing - it's a support weapon, so Rebellion or A&R will come in handy as a main weapon.
Moreover, it will own Enigmas and Bloodgoyles better than any other weapon, Bat Rift will launch AND juggle enemies for you and Jam Session is easily the best Crazy Combo for having the most number of hits and widest range. Pair this weapon with Kalina Ann and you're pretty much unstoppable on DMD mode. Swordmaster really kicks this weapon into gear for stylish combat, but if you use Quicksilver you're virtually invincible with fast DT restoration and many projectiles stunning enemies around you.
However, it does suck against certain boss fights. It's not very useful against Vergil on its own and attempting to use Nevan exclusively against him will make it 100 times harder. Other boss fights I would discourage using it are Agni & Rudra, Lady [simply because she's fast with her guns and you need melee attacks that don't knock her back to stun her (though you could still use Feedback, Reverb Shock, Vortex etc)] and Doppelganger (unless you know what you're doing).
Still you can use it on most boss fights and you'll just win. If you cancel Air Play with a single handgun shot over and over, you can hang in the air for a really long time, which makes fighting i.e. Jester and Leviathan Heart Core a cakewalk. Combo 3 absolutely destroys boss Nevan's own bat shield, the bat swarms can destroy Cerberus' ice more quickly than just using guns on their own, Jam Session is absolutely perfect for parrying Gigapede's pink spheres, you can jump cancel Air Slash on Beowulf's back of his head for consistent damage and air time, you can stand on Geryon's carriage spamming bat swarms all day and then Air Slash his face to stun him quickly, Combo 3 and Jam Session can also make quick work of Arkham's Legion (though Kalina Ann is safer), etc. etc.
Basically if you think Nevan is a bad weapon in any way, you don't know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about DMC3.
on sword Master Style exacly...
Unlike the other weapons, Nevan's handling is difference a little :)
U have to keep playing DMC3... it might be for Your age...
I remember it, I was noob and when I was 14, I started DMC3SE at the first time on my PC...
I remember, How I hated Nevan's Weapon... I couldn't use it for BOSS Fights... only played with Rebellion, Agni & Roudra...
but now I can use Nevan Weapon at Vergil's Battle 1,2,3... after 8 years :)
Off camera Spiral recoil cancel with Royal Guard does the trick. But Nevan still helps in that too as extra insurance.

Anyways OP it's not bad at all. I'm not great with it either but it certainly has some very potent uses.
Nevan is superlative when it comes to dealing with Enigmas.
LOL Vergil is pretty much the one boss you shouldn't be using Nevan against, except maybe with Quicksilver. Vergil's too fast and occasionally unpredictable to be using Nevan against him, which is a weapon that generally leaves you open as the lightning bat swarms aren't good for hitstun and thus have a very low chance of interrupting Vergil at crucial moments. The Swordmaster moves are also terrible for dealing damage on him since he backs out of your combos as soon as you hit him too many times and/or use moves with knock-back (i.e. Air Slash).
Beowulf is the weapon you've just described. Spamming jump cancelled Killer Bees is still the best way to make short work of his healthbar on DMD, paired with Royalguard and DTEs. How on earth can Nevan be "god like" for Vergil fights if Beowulf's infinitely better at doing damage on him?
