The Bards Guild
I have fulfilled many song requests on my thread here, I have uploaded lute covers of over a dozen songs and continue to regularly add more:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/629760/discussions/0/1651043958634622981/

I have also challenged any other bards to face me in musical combat, and my self proclaimed title of Greatest Mordhau Bard continues to go undisputed:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/629760/discussions/0/1651044588038608739/

As obviously the best candidate to do so, I have now taken the mantle upon myself to officially form and helm the Mordhau Bards Guild. Below I will outline the benefits this guild will provide to both its members and the larger Mordhau community as a whole.

Bards Guild Code of Battlefield Conduct
There has been much complaint that bards are useless and annoying and this is unfortunately very often true of young aspiring musicians. This code of ethics aims to set a standard that all bards must adhere to as respected members of the guild, and validates their purpose and legitimacy on the Mordhau battlefield.

  • PRACTICE AT HOME
Don't test your fresh MIDIs with LuteBot in the heat of battle. Nobody wants to hear your mangled notes as you try and figure out a new song in the middle of a fight. Practice offline and get your MIDIs right, then bring only your best performance to the battlefront.
  • PLAY ON POINT
Your job as a battlefield musician is to bring attention to where the action should be going on. If you are playing to an audience at the spawn, you are doing it wrong. Survey the battlefield, see where the team needs to be, and stage your performance there.
  • CARRY A MEDKIT FFS
You absolutely should throw out a medkit before starting your performance on the point. If you are playing on point as you should be, it will absolutely be a benefit to the team. The lute only takes ONE point to carry, leaving you plenty of opportunities to be useful to the team in other ways with the rest of your loadout too (smoke bomb, fire bomb, bear trap, toolbox).
  • DEFEND YOURSELF
Your job is to position yourself near the point and draw attention to the objective, and provide inspiration through the power of music! While that is not always easily quantifiable on the scoreboard, your objective definitely is not to drain your own team's tickets through either allowing yourself to be teamkilled or feeding easy kills to the enemy team while you continue to play on. Position yourself strategically, and when it comes time to fight, cease playing and defend yourself!

Guild Membership Benefits

MIDI Archive Access
LuteBot does not make you instantly good at the lute. The Mordhau lute has a very limited range and most MIDI files not edited carefully and specifically for the purpose of playing on it will sound absolutely terrible. As a member of the guild you will gain access to a growing library of MIDI files edited specifically to sound amazing on the Mordhau lute. Members are encouraged to submit some of their best MIDIs back to the guild to help grow this library.

MIDI Smithing Services
I will also for a limited time provide my services to aspiring bards to edit the MIDI files for their own favorite songs and help guild members optimize them for play on the Mordhau lute.

Access to BardLord LuteMaster's Lute Master Class
Realizing how far superior my Mordhau lute skills really are now, I have shifted my perspective from challenging other bards to offering mentorship instead. I am uploading fewer new lute covers and am now focusing on creating some tutorial content on how to be a better bard, which will be made available to guild members. Some of the things I will cover in this soon to be released series:

  • How to edit MIDI files with free software to eliminate extra tracks and isolate the melody for the lute
  • Tips and tricks to create MIDIs for your favorite songs, and sources for MIDI tracks
  • Understand what keys sound best on the lute, and how to transpose all or part of a song to fit within the lute's limited range

HOW TO JOIN THE BARDS GUILD
Post video or screenshots here or on our Discord server of you observing the Bards Guild Code of Battlefield Conduct as a well intentioned prospective member. That's it, you're in! You will then be added to the Guild roster and given access to guild resources to improve your bardic skills. The purpose of the Guild is to help bards as a whole improve and become a respected or at least tolerated class in Mordhau, our objective is not be an elitist club.

I HATE LUTE PLAYERS AND THINK THE LUTE SHOULD BE REMOVED OR MUTED I DIDN'T EVEN READ ANY OF THIS POST AND SKIPPED TO THE BOTTOM BECAUSE WHAT'S IN THIS FOR ME
Hi there most of you people visiting this thread! The Bards Guild offers a Standard by which to hold lute players accountable, so you can feel justified killing or kicking a lute boi not following The Guild's order, and refer them here to learn how to be useful if they insist on playing music on the battlefield.

I havent fully tested it. I was able to get a decent simple tune going with the mouse but could only maintain it for a short time. Mouse is really hard. I would use lutebot, but i dont even know what that is. And with the banning going on is why i am hesitant.

Edit: how much is a midi kbs? And does it replace or add to current kb?

Thanks man, those are pretty cool but i probably wont be able.to get one for awhile. Would be hard to justify to the Mrs. for use on just one game. Do you need one of those for lutebot? How does lutebot work?

well,..... well no sh*t, i am a Bard Killer thru and thru, sent here by decree of his Majesty our King, but after reading this Bards Guild Code of Conduct, this changes everything, i will bring this code to the court for his royal review, however, i will need to verify this "Conduct" you outline here, as this looks too good to be true. I must admit, im surpised by your dictum, pleasantly surprised as i have been playing guitar for many years myself. However, heading to Grad shortly to see if this "Code" of yours is all rubbish. I shall return bard.

Thank you sire, the Bards Guild exists in the hopes of striking an accord with individuals such as yourself through strict adherence to this Code. We are not just some honorless gang of archers after all!
The King of the Free Guard will be pleased. We all love music & musicians, but this is War. There is a time and place for everything, as long as victory is ur priority, Bards are welcome in the Free Guard. Safe travels bard, see u on the objective Sir.

You can either bind midi kb to lutebot and use it or load a midi file so it'll play by itself, but most midi music sound like trash on lute without editing.
I would love to speak to any lute players using a MIDI keyboard or otherwise keybinding the notes to play songs manually instead of using LuteBot. If I find someone who can jam out on the lute better than me without any MIDI files to assist, I will crown that person King of the Bards myself.

The Bards Guild assumes most lute players are going to employ LuteBot though, and focuses mainly on providing MIDI resources to Guild members so they can play songs in game edited NOT to sound like trash on the lute.

Once you have lutebot installed and ready to play (anyone in the guild can teach you how to install it), you just press (numpad+) and it plays the song. You don't need any extra equipment.

And they aren't banning lutebot users.

I'll still be posting our duel online and have some good recordings of your tracks that will be going up this weekend don't you worry. :-) Just haven't had time to edit and upload our bard battle yet but I didn't forget about you. ;-)

Hey Bardlord, does your guild require the use of lutebot? I am hesitant in using any 3rd party program with this game. I have been practicing trying to compose my own simple tunes that wont drive people to suicide. I have yet to join a live server as a bard as i want to ensure my tune wont be annoying. I will be equiping medpacks and a sword for defense once ready to go live.

Do you offer training in none lutebot composition.

I use to be able to play some decent tunes on lotr online.

And i am still interested in being a bard bodyguard. I cant guarantee i will succeed in always saving the day but i can guarantee my A+++ skills in being a meat shield.

I want to join up so i will post my screenshots once i go live with my performance!

Edit: another question, does joining this guild require the guildee to always play as a bard?

There have been some avid fanatics showing interest in the Bards Guild that have been conducting some over the top in-depth musical studies on the lute and sharing this information with me, so you can really go as deep as you want to with this, there are definitely some like-minded individuals around the Guild to support you!

You are not required to always play as a Bard as a member of the Bards Guild, you are only required to adhere to the Bards Guild Code of Battlefield Conduct anytime you have equipped a lute in your loadout.

Well i may not be a musician ( did play the bass back in the day and i have some wicked screaming talent (i am a metalhead for the most part)) but i love music and would love to join this guild! Will post screenshots asap and will most likely use lutebot and hopefully contribute to the midi archives. There are a few songs i would love to get to work on.

The comments here sicken me to my breeches. I have never seen so many cowards assembled in one place. If only I could line all the traitors up in a line and chop, chop, chop. Even the enemy king must be upset his troops would rather go raving than fight in his name.

At least it was unique and not a repeated line from other forums. Plagiarising other people's quips in an effort to sound cool. You come across as a squawking parrot.

I slap bards so legit fighters can actually fight

Do you even know what plagiarising means? No one invented the line "Max cringe" so there is no one to plagiarise.

I also fail to see how exactly killing bards let other players fight better.
