MORDHAU

You'll Never Be As Good As Me. (LUTE CHALLENGE)
I have been greatly enjoying the lute in Mordhau since I first picked one up in game and discovered its many wonders. With rare exceptions, I generally feel that my presence is enjoyed by all I meet and in no way diminishes but rather enhances the experience for everyone playing by bringing the power of music to the battlefield - as the devs intended, or there wouldn't be a lute in the game in the first place! I am often on the winning team as a bard, I have never once yet been kicked from a server for playing the lute, and while I may occasionally die to the enemy or get team killed, so does everyone else in Mordhau.

It is much to my surprise and dismay then that I find the vile contempt with which lute players are regarded on these discussion boards, with both such great passion and frequency. The only way I can reconcile this difference from my personal experience as a bard is that most of the other bards out there must play the lute really badly, and surely nobody wants to listen to bad music.

With that thought in mind I set out upon the battlefield to find and challenge other bards to lute duels. I have swiftly and summarily vanquished all foes, and have yet to find even one other adversary that possesses a level of lute mastery equal to my own. Here are some lute cover requests I've done recently. This is only a fraction of my repertoire, I haven't even posted some of my best works online yet, and I am always adding new tunes. Most other bards seem to have only one or two songs up their sleeves and then they are stuck on repeat.

Much like Kiyoh in a similarly named duel thread I too grow weary of going undefeated. As the self proclaimed best lute player in all of Mordhau, I yearn for a talented challenger to emerge who will put my bardic skills fully to the test. Even I am beginning to believe all the negativity I am hearing about how terrible lute players really are, based on the lack of other talented bards I have encountered in my own time on the battlefield now.

If you are a skilled lute player you should feel an obligation to reveal yourself here not only to defend yourself against my allegations of your talentlessness, but also to prove to this community of nonbelievers that in the right hands the power of the lute is an awesome one. Show me what you got!

I love this.
Careful with that shredding, those string´s might catch on fire
Twelve hours have passed with nary a single other bard stepping forward to accept my challenge! Surely it can't be that all other lute players are such uncommitted lazy cowards. Show yourselves!
as a would be apprentice bard, I would argue that lutebot makes your challenge null and void as it can't be disproven easily
You are wrong sir, just as any musician handed a copy of pro tools or ableton will not automatically make good music with it, so too would I equate crafting a midi for playback on the Mordhau lute. I would agree it's more like being a DJ than a guitar player, I do sorta just hit play for the concert but I did a lot of work with those files before I arrived for the show, and try to pick music appropriate to the setting in the moment.
Mine own arts art much bett'r than this bard. I did beat that gent without trying. Cometh at me. H'res mine own proof.

Much respect for the Moorland Skirmishers and all but this is the wrong place and time sir. I do acknowledge your... talents, however.

Agree with me or not, I'm telling you because of lutebot no one will accept your challenge
Darude Sandstorm and you win.
People won't accept my challenge because their midi's sound like trash in LuteBot, and mine don't.

Why does everyone ask for this one?! I personally find the song dull given the other available possibilities, but I must give the people what they want I suppose. I will make this one and upload it tonight if it will help inspire people so.

So you just miming instead of honorable live performance? Pathetic!

Face the facts, it's a type of midi controller not an actual stringed instrument, and I am best at it.
Am I the onlly one actually trying to learn how to play the lute without a bot?????

If you can shred on the Mordhau lute by hand without a LuteBot I would concede my title to you this instant. That is a thing of myth and legend that I do not even pretend to be nor do I believe it exists.

If you can shred on an ACTUAL lute, kudos to you for spending the time learning an actual stringed instrument that can be appreciated by a far wider audience than this silly game.

Well I can just play midi file in VLC. It also has a lot more instruments(soundfonts). You don't even perform, so I don't see any reason for bragging.

The point exactly is the limited range of the Mordhau lute and how it doesn't directly equate to any midi you load into it. It can't just play back midi's, it needs midi's that are specifically crafted to play on it. That is the difference that you don't seem to be understanding.
