What happens if you lose all your party members in battle? Do you lose everything from the run?

You go back a stage if your whole party gets killed. So if you were on level 100, you'd go back to 99.

thanks. So over and over again? you would go back? No penalities of any kind?

No penalization. If your party gets killed on level 1 you just restart it again, and the counter for the given stage (X/25 monsters killed) gets reset.

There are a few adventure variants (Tomb of the Nine Gods - The Soulmonger Calls, and an event variant) that penalise deaths.
Other than those two (or ??), wiping is a way to push as high as possible to find your wall (the point where you don't wipe but can't progress further).

thanks again guys. I have been playing to a certain level, then just restarting once i couldnt go further, or retreat just before they kill my first frontline guy, lol. Now i know better :)

Usually once your tank dies your party will wipe without killing any more anyway, This is due to the massive bonuses your tank is usually giving the people behind.

A few very rare bosses are hit based, so sometimes you can eek out a win even with the formation dying around you. The Zombie T-Rex in Running of the Saurs is a good example.
