did you finish the story? him trying to murder your friends and possibly you just to have you as a "friend" doesn't realy feel "cute" or "romantic" but like the OP said "creepy" sounds about right...
also, SAO is about kirito and asuna... the rest of the girls have no romantic value...
on to the game... it's about your relationship with zeliska... itsuki is the friggin BAD GUY!!! there is no romantic connection what so ever...
he wanted you as his only friend and didn't believe in other people's good intentions because he was a cynical bloody psychopath! maybe you're suffering from stockholm syndrome but for god's sake stop with the BS!
verry femenist of you... it was NEVER the intention of targeting this to anybody... appart the people who liked SAO...
want something to get you off? go watch some reversed harem...
most of you idiots are overthinking this into an exteme at wich point you're flippin blinded to the truth...
Don't get me wrong, I am ticked off that they plucked the only male bachelor (like always) and turned him into a villain. They keep doing this and it's really annoying (Though I have to admit that having foreshadowing of their confrontation in his bed event was lowkey genius, that's the only part of this that I found cool).
But my point still stands that he is a character aimed towards the female audience, so we have every right to like him as much as the guys love their girls. And in all honesty you can't call him out for being all that terrible when:
a) his past is never revelaed (which is frustrating of the writers), so the justification of his emotions is debatable. Plus him having bed events and being a recognized love interest for the protag is proof of a possible connection depending on the player's interests, and it basically proves he has sincere emotions behind his actions as a villain. It's twisted, yes, but there is real emotion.
b) he is the most tame villain in all of SAO history. You have a dude who traps people in SAO and forgets why he even did that, that creepy CEO guy who tries to rape Asuna and Sinon's friend who murders several people and is way more yandere than Itsuki. At most, Itsuki doesn't even kill or harm anyone in the TRUE outcome of the game. He's really just a tame yandere.
And hey, if you don't believe me about Itsuki, Yuuki's message to you at the beginning of the expansion is LITERALLY PERFECT, she is right on the mark with what she says.
Also I see no issue in my complaints with seeing guys whine about male characters being romantic with the protag. When guys get TONS of girls to choose from, girls have hardly any choice yet we don't complain about seeing yuri interactions with the girls. In all honestly, some girls are waifu material so we don't mind, so suddenly its feminist of me to think that its ridiculous for guys to be complaining when they only have to sit through ONE male love interest's interactions and messages, when they were clearly not the target gender? The fact of the matter is that people are being unfairly whiney. If they make another custom-protag centred game, and they don't make the male bachelors evil, just watch guys complain again and label them as 'creepy'.
Also, the game is HEAVILY catered to males, it's very obvious. SAO as a series is is directed to guys because of all the cute girls and the light novels using Kirito as a tool for male readers to project onto like most other harem series. When you see how many times SAO makes other pretty boys besides Kirito into psychos, villians or even dead, it's plain to see that the female side of the fanbase isn't given a fraction of attention. Yes this game is directed to SAO fans but most of them are male, and some of them, like the people here, completely forget that girls are in the fanbase too.
I would have happily romaced Kureha and stayed friends with Itsuki until his eventual betrayal.
It was refreshing to see another male character in the spotlight other than Kirito but as a straight guy I didn't feel good reading through his high affection level scenes and messages.
Give us proper romance and character events please!
But I'm guessing you might still have to sit through affection from everyone in the future, since SAO is essentially a harem at its core. I just hope there is a better ratio between male and female love interests. (And hopefully there is no consequence to sleeping with more than one, unlike Persona 5 lol)
I've had my share of forced straight relationships in video games (and many had/have to endure that in real life, which is ten times worse), so it was nice to have at least one cut-in of a male character, since Itsuki's is literally the only man we get in bed in this game (even if he's not wearing anything as skimpy as the girls). I wasn't impressed by the cut-ins with Klein and Agil. Stop complaining when you have dozens of female characters to drool over.
I have to agree with what's been said already that he was conceived for female players, tho. Homophobia in Japan is quite a serious issue, sometimes more so than in the West.
And as for him being *creepy,* yeah. He is creepy. And that's the point regardless of yours or your character's gender. Some of his advances are endearing if you're not so insecure about your sexuality, but I cannot disagree that, for the most part, he is supposed to be creepy.
I didn't get to play all the DLCs yet, but I can already say Itsuki was wasted on this license. He's an intriguing character but yes, he was very poorly written (much like every character in this game, to be fair).
Y'all shouldn't bother replying to me directly cuz I'm not subbing to this thread. I know all too well how the anime/harem community treats anything that's not MxF or FxF, so if you're gonna try and ridicule me cuz I'm gay, just know you'll be talking to a wall.
Have a nice day!
Just the whole fact that guys claim it to be unnecessary to have Itsuki making advances towards the player is the dumbest thing I've seen, narrow-minded to say the least. The game lets you pick genders for a reason, so girls obviously play too.
And yessss the whole fact that THEY complain about one handsome man in bed with you while they have a heccing buffet of girls to pick from, it's simply annoying. Already disappointed that the Alicization game is basically just playing the anime's plot (which I feel is lazy af), so I hope that the next custom protag game gives Itsuki a redemption, or this time gives us MORE THAN ONE male bachelor...that won't turn evil or crazy. Because of this annoying pattern in SAO, I feel like I can't trust any of the pretty boys to live or to not be villains.
okay since so many are dense and call it whining let me put it this way. You are a lesbian and a guy just gets into your bed, flirts with you obsessively and you do not like it and there is nothing you can do about it. Would you call it whining to say that because you are not interested in men that you would have liked the option to shoot the guy down early on and cement it into their head that you are not interested and that no you are not comfortable with them being in your bed?
I literally have to sit through countless events with girls where I generally just don't care, skipping through like "okay okay, I don't really care, is it over soon?" but I don't whine about it because I don't necessarily hate it.
Not to mention Kureha and Zeliska having a whole library of affection events while Itsuki only gets 4? I'm sorry but to complain about sitting through a smidgen of events compared to what the girls have, it's absolutely annoying, childish and whiney af.It's not even a case of whether or not I like Itsuki because of my straight-girl bias, the whole prospect of yall complaining about it is just ridiculous. It's like dealing with a greedy, picky toddler.
You literally have a buffet of girls to enjoy spending time with and you're gonna complain about associating with one guy? Imagine how boring and internally frustrating it is to indulge in a biased, limited amount of fanservice that gets taken away in the end, while the other side is just catered to like kids with candy yet they still complain.
So to conclude, who tf cares? Suck it up because you hardly have to sit through anything.
