I've also noticed, and I'm not sure if this is a seperate issue or if it might be connected, but when checking how much battery life my coulus touch controllers have, they say they're full even though I can use them for an hour everyday for a week straight. They never change.
the first post includes a possible fix: https://steamcommunity.com/app/494150/discussions/0/1694914735991065294/?ctp=2
At least on the Rift the touch controllers spring, that holds the battery in place, is not strong enough. If you do fast swings with a lot energy, the battery moves and might lose contact for a split seconds and this causes the controllers to disappear or behave strange.
This made it a lot better for me.
But there seems to be still an issue related to the game, that when the swords cross in close distance they seem to get stuck as well.
