How to manually install Beat Saber Mods
NOTE: RUN THE GAME AT LEAST ONCE PRIOR TO FOLLOWING ANY OF THESE STEPS
*thanks SilentCaay*

For anyone having trouble installing it via each separate link I have compiled a basic .ZIP file that contains all the folders you need to just get your old custom songs up and running again. Along with (hopefully) easier to follow instructions

https://www.dropbox.com/s/h1pazz9h8o3btlr/Beat%20Saber%20All%20in%20One%20Basic%20Install.zip?dl=0

if you want any additional mods (such as the song downloader) find them and install them below. I wiped my beatsaber and reinstalled it twice, and got my old custom songs to load both times with the provided package just to be sure I uploaded something that worked

Because I know its going to happen. somebody, somewhere, is either:

A: Not going to know why Mod Saber is no longer working

B: Is going to blame the Devs for "removing mods"

C: Is going to leave a negative review because the Devs "ruined the game"

D: A mix of A,B, and C

I am going to explain how to install mods manually as the creater of the original mod seems to have abandoned his work for one reason or another. and his site has had things such as "Goodbye." "Goodbye World," and most recently "o7" on it. I presume he's hit a bump in life somewhere and is sorting through it and as such has discontinued work on the project.

However, the files for the mods are still possible to download and install manually.

First: The dependencies (other sub mods depend on one or more of these to function. easier to just download and install them all)

This first mod is the most important one as none of the other mods will work without it. To install simply drag the contents of the "Release" folder into your Beat Saber directory, and run the IPA.exe

1. https://github.com/nike4613/BeatSaber-IPA-Reloaded/releases

These are the other dependencies for other mods, such as UI, custom sabers/colors, etc. I'm not going to pretend to know which goes to what, so its easier to just install them all. Juuuuust incase. To install these just drag their contents into your beat saber directory.

2. https://bsaber.com/mods/newtonsoft-json-12.0.1.zip
3. https://bsaber.com/mods/harmony-1.2.0.zip
4. https://bsaber.com/mods/customui-1.4.0.zip
5. https://bsaber.com/mods/ini-parser-2.5.2.zip
6. https://bsaber.com/mods/bs-utils-1.2.2.zip BS-Utils

Next up will be the mods themselves. Download and install these the same way as the previous dependencies unless stated otherwise via a readme somewhere in the mod folder

The First mod, "SongLoader" is needed in order to load custom songs, if all you want to do is load and play your previously installed custom songs, this is the only other mod you need. Otherwise go through the list and install whatever mods you plan on using.

You will need "SongBrowserPlugin" to browse and install songs from within the game. otherwise you need to download and install the songs manually

Edit: Thanks SilentCaay for pointing out you must run the game at least once prior to reinstalling the ModLoader otherwise it will purge all of your custom songs

Edit 2: fixed grammar in First Paragraph to be more coherent

Edit 3: created pre-packaged simplified instructions near top for those having issues following my long rambly post.

Edit 4: ~Ikki~ noticed I missed the ScoreSaver mods. kinda important if you want leaderboards. Have added those to the mod list.

Add a note that you need to run the game once first before modding. The first time the game is run after being updated or installed it purges mods and moves them to a folder called "Incompatible Plugins" for the sake of maintaining compatibility. If you install mods before running the game then the game will purge them.

Good Point. I just assumed most people will have run it at least once to notice that the mods are broken. But you are right

Thanks friends!

I've seen more than a couple people that have noticed that the game has updated, modded first, then run the game. Seeing that the mods aren't installed, they assume something when wrong, reinstall the game, reinstall the mods and get stuck in a loop.

Very true, I edited the post adding notations at the top and bottom. with your name as credit for pointing that out. Not gonna pretend I thought of that lol

Thank god!
You did what they weren't capable to.

Edit: ok, it doesn't work for me. but I did not reinstalled fresh, so I will give it a try (including of running the game one time before installing any mods)

Edit 2: Defnetly not working for me. Fresh installed.
Did not installed the 2. - 6. mods.
Will try that tomorrow.

Someone make a video, this is way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ complicated
SilentCaay Apr 3, 2019 @ 6:23pm
It's not complicated. Run the game once and close it, install IPA, run IPA, install the "dependency" mods, install the mods you want (SongLoader for loading custom songs is the only super important one). Good to go.

Hmm, go ahead and see if your custom songs are still there

head into your drive that steam beatsaber is installed onto (for me its my C: Drive)

and head to the following path:

SteamLibrary -> steamapps -> common -> Beat Saber -> CustomSongs

check to see if there are song folders in there. they usually have a couple numbers and a dash as their file name. example. 46-21, or 27-9, 327-192. etc.

Assuming that folder still exists, you can atleast confirm that your custom songs still exist

Check to make sure you have those. then I will link you the Bare minimum files you need to get the Song loader going

In the meantime I'm also going to completely uninstall, and then reinstall my copy of Beatsaber so that it is as fresh and can be.

and then attempt to get it to load up my backed up custom songs folder.

at which point I will try to break down the steps I followed to do so

Okay, trying a different method. I have compiled a single folder containing everything you need, and will attempt to include a read me for you to follow.

I completely wiped my beatsaber off my computer completely and reinstalled EVERYTHING and was able to get it to load my custom songs once again with nothing but what I will include in there for you.

So hopefully this helps. will provide a link to the file once I find a fileshare site to put it on

I got custom songs working again thanks to this! I'm just curious if you'd know why I have a certain thing happen.

After I play a custom song it boots me back to the song select menu now instead of giving me a score and a grade, along with this, songs I've just played say I've never played them before. Am I missing a mod or something?
