Expert + is freaking hard
As someone who got s rank on every song on expert, the challenge is a welcome one. But damn is it hard. I seen the level fail screen more times in the last hour than I did the past 3 months.

I'd say they overmapped couple of these songs, yet it's pretty enjoyable

yeah, the 3 of the more rap like songs arent even really worth doing. I do like the new difficulty, and I feel like its a good set for what expert plus is like with custom charts, but alot of those customs are still stupidly hard in comparison to these.

I like hard, but quite frankly, I don't agree with expert +. It's a slippery slope. Why not Expert ++ or Expert +++ Hard Mode?

At some point, the hardware itself just doesn't scale well. Phantom misses are even more common it seems. I'm not sure who they're catering toward with Expert +. Expert is hard enough to get SS on. It's not like people are capping out on points in Expert.

The beat no longer follows the blocks closely. There's so many blocks, in such odd positions that it is pure arm flailing at this point. It seems the cohesion is gone.

The beauty of Expert is that it's kind of easy to do, but really hard to master. Expert + is just masochism to even do. It's simply put, not fun to even try, unlike expert.

For the first time in Beat Saber, I'm not having fun. What are other people's thoughts on Expert +?

Not gonna say that I'm an ultimate master at beat saber, but I'm able to do a fair majority of the (modded) expert+ songs. The ones that were added in the recent patch however, confuse me.

I don't really have an issue with the overcharting, but some of the notes are just poorly placed, and hitting them requires a very unnatural arm movement, so it kinda hampers the fun factor. They're not difficult, they're just very weird and easily throws you off (at least, that's the way I feel)

That's where I'm at. I'm by no means the best, but I was SS average except for about 3 songs before .12. Had numerous ones in the top 200. That being said, I avoided modded songs because I felt they were too inconsistent on the difficulty.

Now, though, it seems the core game has over done it. SUre, I'll get better, and I don't want this to seem like a whine, but honestly, there is very little joy now in doing the songs on Expert +. The most important factor being that it no longer feels in rhythm to the music. It's just blocks. Blocks everywhere, blocks for no reason other than to have blocks there.

After 20 seconds in $100 there is no consistency with the tempo. It completely devolves into a wild flailing excercise that , from my point of view, seems entirely reliant on memorization over tempo. I can't "feel" the music any more. Does that make sense?

i like them, thats how custom songs labeled as "expert+" shoud also be, not like currently most expert+ songs which feels like hard but bit faster. about those phantom misses, they really need to do something for it, really ruins the game for me

I feel the same as a few people here. I was never Top 1000 on leaderboards but could reliably FC most of the OST on Expert. Expert+ just feels like a mess. I don't feel like I'm playing to the rhythm at all; it just feels like I'm frantcally swinging at blocks while an unrelated music track plays.

The best thing about Expert was that it flowed extremely well. Expert+ has so many awkward transitions and odd note placements that it no longer feels like a rhythm game. Honestly, they feel like some of the worse custom charts I've tried.

I appreciate Expert+ needs to be very hard, but it feels like the maps were just thrown together with no thought to how they flow. I'll probably stick with Expert because I feel it's much more fun.

I'm also not a fan of how modifiers affect your score, but that's another issue altogether.

I was ranked between 100 and 300 on all the stock songs before the patch, and have only ever found a couple beat saver songs I couldn't do with ease really.

Of the 3 new expert+ songs I played last night, each was well above most of the modded expert+ in difficulty. That said, it's mainly because they're so foreign.. lots of crisscrossing and angled notes, which is rare even for mod songs. In the end it just takes practice.. my experience with beat saber is that everything becomes easy eventually, and before long I'll reach a whole new level of skill and want something even harder.

The thing that really surprised me though is how little the disappearing arrows option did to the difficulty. It made almost no difference whatsoever, even for the new tracks.

The new maps seem to be very awkward which i don't know if this is good or bad. I like them but at the same time they feel very weird. Even some of the hits i feel i did them right but even with a good swing i was short sometimes. the only thing i have to say about these maps is they are kinda awkward.
Saito Nov 28, 2018 @ 1:54am
The new expert + is just trash, things don't flow properly with the music anymore, if feels like they just placed loads of notes in awkward places for the sake of making it hard and its not enjoyable at all, LOADS of custom songs do a much better job at making things harder while still fun and annoyingly the update broke them as well as far as i can see, something fondamental changed and they don't feel as they used to.
Overall, this update ruined the game for me, i will be changing my review.

I'm getting better at keeping up with the pace of the expert+ songs. The real stick in the mud is the moves they throw in that make me think "how the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to move like that?!?!" Probably going to have to make my own modded song just to practice those types of moves because nothing ♥♥♥♥♥ up your flow more than having to think about how you're supposed to do something.

If you spend a few minutes in practice mode you will learn the muscle memory and won't worry about thinking how to do these moves.

Every time I see posts about the E+ maps it's like practice mode doesn't exist at all tbh.
DaBa Jan 22, 2019 @ 3:26am
I think most people don't even realize practice mode exists, or they just forget about it. It's a much better way of learning the patterns. Also, slowing down songs is another great tool I almost never see mentioned anywhere. Once you have learned and beaten the song in slower version, you'll have a much easier time doing it the normal way since, you know, you're doing the same movements but faster.

Some of them have issues, like the vision blocking during the triples near the start of Angel Voices is really obnoxious, but some are pretty decent.
