Widen spectator view FOV?
Is there a way to widen the view on the spectator FOV and maybe increase the default resolution it opens at?

You can increase the resolution of the desktop window and even make it fullscreen from one of the settings menus, but the FOV is fixed.

It must be adjustable because when I look at other people's recordings, there's a wide view where you can see the light savers clearly:

Yet when I play it, it's very zoomed in, it doesn't look this way on the headset:

This is an issue with the Rift, not the game. I've noticed various people having this same issue recording various games and they're always using a Rift. No idea why but as far as I know the only solution is to record the Rift's own mirror instead of the game mirror.

You could also try disabling the game's mirror option, then open SteamVR's headset mirror instead (R-click the HMD icon on SteamVR's desktop window). That shows the full HMD render which you can then crop to give a much wider view. That may have worse distortion though, but something to play with.
