Custom songs no longer load. Period.

I'm at my wit's end. Tried like 5 different mod managers, old and new, none of them want to bring anything back. Only Beat Saber is recognized as a "custom track". Seems like loading custom songs requires Odyssean levels of work. Missing when I could've used BSMM like I used to. Patched and launched, verified integrities, nothing works.

I just want to be able to play the tracks that I used to. What workaround is there besides throwing my computer into the trash?

You are doing something wrong. It's a simple process and requires barely any amount of work at all. Just follow the tutorial on the modding wiki.

1. Do a clean install of the game
2. Run the game once
3. Install mods using some manager, I use mod assistant
4. Everything works, download more songs or use the old ones if you backed them up.

custom songs definitely work, and its an incredibly easy process, something in your current install is messing you up.

start from a clean slate, back up your songs but totally delete beat saber and all the mods and run a clean install, make sure you run the game once after the clean install, with no mods.

then just download mod assistant, run it and install all the necessary mods and whatever else you want.

also once you get things working the first time you run the game your old songs will have to be converted since there has been a change in format, just let it run it's course, the mods should handle everything for you.

Just use Mod Assistant. If you're trying 5 different methods then you clearly aren't using the most up-to-date instructions which are always available in the Wiki of the subreddit or the Announcements channel of the Modding Discord. Always look there first. I try to make a new topic here when the instructions change, as well, and if you go back through the topics you'll find it.

Mod managers always put the custom songs in a folder in the top directory of beat saber (Beat Saber\Custom Songs), while beat saber now has the native functionality to load them from the "Custom Levels" folder (Beat Saber\Beat Saber_Data\Custom Levels). Are you putting your songs in there, or the old directory?

Even with a fresh install I still have a handful of songs that just won't load. :'(

what are you using to download the songs? i use beatdrop and it works. you just search for a song click on it and click on download and bam its done.

I was using the in-game mod menu to download the songs, but now that I have them downloaded and converted i've decided to delete all the mods and use the custom songs in a fresh vanilla install.

As a result all issues are gone. Lost performance, song loading, and other minor wonkiness are all gone. Mods dropped me to 1.5 SS and 4xAA now i'm back to 1.8SS and 8xAA with headroom to spare. All my songs are loading. No more occasional stutters while playing causing a miss.

So big thanks to the modders for converting the songs!

Anyone else having issues and not actively using mod features should consider deleting the mods. This also means when the game updates we'll never lose our custom songs again.

One of the recent updates moved all my songs to a new folder (Beat Saber\Beat Saber_Data\CustomLevels). Putting them back where they used to be (Beat Saber\CustomSongs) fixed it for me.
