Ancestors Legacy is a squad-based real time strategy with a strong focus on tactics. Inspired by medieval European history, it brings to life four different nations and their conflicts, usually solved by war.

My game does not start / crashes / has technical issues, what should I do?
Please check this thread for more information on known issues and their status. If you do not see your issue there, feel free to reply in that thread.

How can I start the free roam mode?
Simply play a skirmish or a private match with no enemies and allies. No special menus or options needed :)

I can only play Viking Campaign, the rest is unavailable... Why?
You have to unlock the next campaigns by playing the first one. As soon as you finish 4th mission, all the other campaigns unlock and you are able to progress through them.

Can´t join Multiplayer games, but I am able to host them
Please check this. You're interested in the "Steam Client" section.

What are the future plans for the game?
Here's what we plan and want to implement in the future (in no particular order, nor any ETA given): Mod and Workshop support, Paid expansion pack with a new nation, campaign and multiplayer maps. Dedicated Servers, Spectator Mode, Demo, Heroes in multiplayer. Free Slavic second campaign. Free German second campaign.

Please keep in mind though, that plans are always subject to change (but most of this is going to make it into game sooner or later). Most of this has already been implemented.

Multiplayer match has finished and I have no idea what happened. What's going on?
Domination match by default has a 30 minute time limit. If that time limit is reached, the side with more points wins the match. If you wish to remove this time limit, simply change it when hosting a game to "Unlimited" position. Annihilation matches are unlimited by default.

A match will also end abruptly if the host decides to leave or looses connection.

What are the little shapes with 1's in them above my profile pic?
Those are your multiplayer levels for each of the four factions. You can gain them by playing public multiplayer matches, although keep in mind that playing versus the AI gives only half as much experience as playing versus players.

Dear fan. I'm not a developer, but I will say so the output of the game in GOG, of course, will. The development company is not that extensive and believe me, it is difficult to implement several projects. Just a few hours ago, the Teutonic campaign came out. Now wait for the release in GOG

Believe us, we're working on it as we speak. We want fully working multiplayer in GOG version and it's truly a pain to do so.

Hi developers, please could you tell something about how you see the state of AI and general quality/fidelity of units in game ? Are you satisfied with it in current state or there will be further improvements to it ?
In more particular talk the slav and some anglosaxon units look a bit less polished compared to viking ones, not saying they look bad of course.

The AI could use some love too. Are there plans to implement considerably greater improvements to AI in the future ? For example kythera.ai which is middleware software that could bring a lot to SP and skirmish.

More than 3v3 a consideration? Or even FFA map(s) with configurable teams which would things like 4v2). My groups prefers to play vs AI in a variety of games.

Cross-play is something we've considered, but it's a major technological challenge. I can not promise that.

Private matches allow more than public ones, you can play with friends vs AI there. We do not plan on adding 4v4 maps nor supporting 4v2 scenarios. Maps are balanced for 3v3.

Multiplayer levels - I was progressing fine, 4 on Germans in AI games, now they dont apeear, even when I play the other races, that I am on 1 for. Am I missing somethig... do they do anything? Give access to new spells etc?

Could you show me a picture of how they are lost? I don't really understand what's missing and not appearing. Is it in lobby or main menu? Have you patched to the latest version we have literally uploaded minutes ago? Do you have any error?

Those levels don't really give you much. They decide which AI type will replace you once you leave the game, how your avatar is presented to other players, ranking position etc. No skins or unlocks.

From other sources I read about the official discord of the game some time ago. It was 1c company and a third studio that handled the portage gog. But due to the problem of setting up the multiplayer multiplayer and avoiding the xbox one version being delayed, the gog version was in standby. The recovery of the dev was planned after the release of the xbox one version.

In manual it is indicated that you planned to devote second german campaign to Albert the Bear and crusade against Polabian Slavs. It is interesting to me why you changed your mind and did campaign about Teutonic Order?

Yeah, that was the original plan, but after heavy brainstorming we figured that we have more ideas for a Teutonic Order campaign. As such it would end up more interesting and we've decided to go with it.

Yeah, that was the original plan, but after heavy brainstorming we figured that we have more ideas for a Teutonic Order campaign. As such it would end up more interesting and we've decided to go with it.

Yea I'd like that, or an option to choose the Teutonic Order as like a skin for MP and skirmish etc.
I got a few questions and i might be asking common questions so sorry if i'm asking questions that has been answered alot.

Is there gonna be a map of europe where you can conquer provinces or regions, type of mode? - Similar to wargame or total war.

How "moddable" will the game be? ie custom campaigns, skins, buildings, factions, etc.
