Portal 2

Portal 2 is a....Christian Story?
Ok, so, i just cam up with this theory a little bit ago. I may have missed something big, but, i think that this can work. Sorta. It's a bit of a streatch. And no, I am not saying that GLaDOS or Wheatly are better or worse than eachother or that Chell is stupid. This is just a theory on how to conect the game to a religious stand point. And I know my spelling is bad.

GLaDOS is repersenting God.
Wheatly is rrepersenting Satan.
The story is from Chell's point of view.

You start your life in the dark with the devil (wheatly) and travel through life. Satan (wheatly) expresses worry about God (GLaDOS) and tries to make you biased against Him (Her. Did you notice that Her was capitolised, just like Him when reffering to God?) As you go through your travels, you meet God (GLaDOS) and He (Her) tries to seperate you from Statan (Wheatly. I'll explain why you see GLaDOS call you a monster latter). As you travel with God (GLaDOS) He (Her) puts you through a series of trials (tests) and you become angry at God (GLaDOS) for these trials (tests). As you go along, everyone once and a while you meet the Devil (Wheatly) and he tries to tel you how bad you got it and how he can help you. Then you decide to leave God's (GLaDOS's) path and go with the devil (Wheatly). You then go and plot against God (GLaDOS) with the Devil (Wheatly). You then confront God again and try to kill Him (Her. This is like Jesus on the cross). After you and the Devil (Wheatly) suceed, he turns on you and tries to kill you too. Finally seeing the Devils true intent, you come pleading to God for help (or just picking up a POTaTOS) and plan to bring down the Devil (This could be either Jesus rising or the time that is yet to come when the world is made anew, but lets just stay with Jesus risising for now). (Also note, that around this time, GLaDOS did mention burning up in a giant atomic fire ball? Could this be a reference to Hell?) As you continue trying to make your way to confront the Devil (Wheatly), you meet Cave Johnson (This is a bit of stretch, but, Im trying to include everything) and you hear about how Cave Johnson absolutly hates Black Mesa. Cave Johnson could at this time also represent God, and Black Mesa the Devil.
(We will now skip to fighing Wheatly/Devil)
In the boss fight, you are allied with God/GLaDOS agianst the devil. You then hear the Devil (WHeatly) talk about how he really wanted to help Chell. The, when you and God win, you leave God to go find the Devil because he has manipulated you. Here you have been manipulated into beliving the Devil. This is why in the Story GLaDOS called Chell a monster, and seemed evil during part of it. Then at the end, when GLaDOS say's she wants you gone, Chell only tells you, and herself thats what GLaDOS (God) said becuase of her biased.

So, thats basiclly what I have. What do you think? Did I miss something important, whch ruins this, or maybe i left out something important that supports this. Im not tryint to hurt or support and religion with this, and I dont want to debate religions, just if Portal 2 is comparable to how a peron walks through life from a christian point of view. There is a big chance that I am completly wrong, so PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I would love to know what you guys think!

Thankyou for your time!

EDIT: I meant this as a bit of a joke.

I'd say it's just a simple story about corruptibility of power.

People "find" religous allegory in tree bark, burnt toast, and spaghetti, too.

Dude, the only thing that ties Christianity and Portal 2 is the Turret on the Conveyor belt, NOTHING else is tied.

How so?

I thought the Oracle Turret was tied to the story of Prometheus, not Christianity.

one HUGE flaw is that, satan is only portrayed as bad in the bible. if the bible is taken literally then satan is actually the good one.

because satan not only didn't kill, torture or scare people like god did, but he was framed by god as-well.

the worst satan has done is tell people to do bad stuff or convince adam and eve to disobey the rules making freedom a thing

Same.

And that proves that you did not understand the Bible. God killed his enemies in this life, but Satan will be the one who caused their fate to Hell. Also, if God is king, and we are his servents, and we rebel, is it not in His right to kill us? Any other king would kill every traitior. And still God provides a way to not be killed. That doesn't sound like a bad guy to me.

But i said this wasnt an argument over religion, but the connection between portal 2 and religion.

It's like Jesus in the desert when satin quotes God to trick him into sin.
This theory is great, but I think Cave's hate for Black Mesa was a nod to the secular point of view showing man's sin. I think of this as less of a joke and more of a great comparison.

I didn't think about that. Good point.

If it makes sense to you, makes you enjoy the story more, and makes you feel better about yourself and your beliefs, then good for you. You can twist almost every story to have some deeper meaning about life if you try hard enough. For example, I'm convinced that Guardians of the Galaxy is a story about a boy suffering from a delusional disorder brought on by the death of his mother. You may or may not be on to what the writers intended, but I think it's a fun thought experiment.

Sounds like an egocentric dude on a power trip to me. This is why some people compare Christianity to the mafia. "Pay us money and we'll protect your shop, but if you don't we'll come to break your inventory." The threat of eternal hellfire if you don't obey may be a powerful motivator (if you believe in it, that is), but it's not exactly a moral one. If God wanted my worship, he shouldn't have given me free will.
Neb Randop Aug 22, 2016 @ 12:32pm
To be fair it's nothing like the mafia
Jesus(Glados) does the the saving. Satin(wheatley) does the killing.:steamsalty:

And nobody's going to mention how GLaDOS tries killing you while you're escaping by tricking you into going through a room full of neurotoxin, or that she attempted to kill you with turrets again while you were in a glass box?
KillerBeer01 Aug 22, 2016 @ 8:12pm
[chuckle] GLaDOS also tries to kill you with fire when you dutifully obey her and perform every test she throws at you. In other words, it doesn't matter if you're good or bad, God hates us all.
Neb Randop Aug 23, 2016 @ 9:54am
those are more tests. i quote glados when you escape fire

"What are you dooooo... we are pleased that you escped...":steamfacepalm:

1. It's actually, "What are you doing? Stop it! I... I. I. I. IIIIIII Weee are pleased, that you made it through the final challenge where we pretended we were going to murder you."

2. So, according to you, "Schrödinger's cat"ing Chell was a test?

She is programmed to be unable to make tests that don't have an eventual solution.
Therefore, making a test where the subject is trapped inside a glass box with neurotoxin and turrets attacking it is basically an unbeatable test, unless you can dodge bullets, which Chell isn't fast enough to do when there are eight turrets attacking at once.
