Female characters have male voice ...wtf
ok so i set up a save for my daughter to use,
we made her (female) character and set up the game... upon the first cutscene with the giant bull monster... her character has a male voice......


seriously........................?
is this a bug or something... whats the point in having voices if its going to be replaced with a male one =/....

Yeah, there were no voices recorded for a female version of Kirito. Story-wise, he needs to be there so only his own VA was cast and him only, after all it is his story. To be your own avatar is only for gameplay purposes. it's not a bug.

For the record, he still appears in CGs, so a female voice would be pointless anyways.

i think there was an option to turn off kirito's voice in cutscenes.

yh i think i saw something like that somewhere... altho XD its still rendeners having female voices pointless if the only place you hear them is in battle

Just turn it off in the Settings think there was a option for that

This is a fake MMO where you make the 'avatar' that is being played by the main character that is, in fact, a male - his voice should not change - it would break lore.

That tells a lot about the coherence of the game design as a whole then.

what about when klein character orginally looked and souned like a female ?
breaking the lore..... sureeeeee when the anime had male chars using female chars with female voices till kayaba turned everone into their real world selfs ?....

sureeeee itssss lore breaking (rolls eyes)

I don't disagree with the voice thing, but what you're saying here doesn't really make any sense.

.. if you watched the anime,
you'd see that klein (the spiky red haired goofball), orginally had a female character, that had a female voice, when he was switched to his RL self, the voice changed to...

so to say " making an avater that is being played by the main character whos male and so his voice shouldn't change because is breaks lore" is stupid,,,

the "secondry characer (klein) used a female character and his voice changed....
whatever .... we're going of topic...

pure and simply put.... theres an option to use "female voices" to which ofcourse would be used on female characters.... if using voices actually doesn't metter what so every then ...


1. why add voice overs into the game any way of the voice doesn't matter,
2. why allow people to play female avaters if the ONLY thing that chances is the avatar itsself in game,

Oh wow. This is still going LOL!

My two cents: At least Fatal Bullet succeeded in this regard, though giving the player dialogue options was pretty darn pointless. I don't get why developers bother to do this when there's no consequence whatsoever instead of writing properly.

As for bloody Kirito, it doesn't bother me *that* much because I couldn't care less about any of these characters, so I'm skipping anything that's not directly related to the core story. Been working so far, though this means I do tend to miss a few lines before I realize the main story is about to develop. Small price to pay for the criminal character development.

Since doing that, I spend most of my time actually playing the game instead of sitting through VN cutscenes, and turning off Kirito's VO altogether further amplifies the feeling that he's not there at all. I get that some SAO fans would crucify me for doing all this, but I want to enjoy the game, not watch a fanfic where Kirito gets in bed with EVERYONE.

try watching the first few episodes again then kayaba switches everyones avatar

Oh. As for Klein playing as a woman at first: yeah, that didn't happen. I'm not one to take sides but this is just a fact. His avatar had long, pink-ish hair but it wasn't a woman. Here's all the proof anyone needs:

it wasn't klein it was a random nobody
at about 16:15

was a random dude that got changed from a female character.....
regardless tho... i knew it was a dude using a female avatar, and my point still stands... xD
why have VO's if they aren't going to make a difference
