If they try to trade with you, do not let them. They will try to give you some REALLY powerful equipment, but the equipment is very likely modified and will also list you as a Red/Dark Orange player. Do not take candy from strangers basically.

If you are affected by this then get rid of the item, selling it, trashing it etc, and restart your game. The item might be tempting to keep, but get rid of it because it will show the community that you are a cheater with the name colour.

(I don't own the game, however I play it on family sharing.)

If you were wondering, yes I did exprience this and I'm surprised that people are already cheating. I didn't even know what a red name meant up until I looked it up after the trade already happened.

This is also a problem on the PS4 with people being able to edit their saves, I knew it was only a matter of time before it happend on the PC as well. This is unfortunate, I don't want to play with cheaters... now if they just had BIS gear, that would be different, but that's not the case. I'm sorry OP. This game needs a gear check kind of like Dark Souls.

Well, the game does have a gear check, but there's no punishment. I think the modded gear should be deleted, or there should be a temporary softban imo.

i feel like having a red name should make it so they cant interact with anything, like the interact button doesnt work(cant talk to npcs or interact with multiplayer doors so it wont ruin someone elses experience)

However I will say that doesn't mean you shouldn't reject legit equipment either. Knowing when to accept and when to decline is equally important.

Ex: I have surplus of old equipment I now never use, I can give it away to people instead.

Its about having fun people! If people have fun being completly OP, AKA being Kirito in SAO, then i am fine with that. No one forces people to play with them or PVP against them anyway. Having my name Red/Orange sounds good for a change. better than White/Blue wich can go on ones nerves sometimes. If modding equipment is a thing then by all means one could have tons of fun with this, yet should restraint oneselfe in open MP enviroments. I myselfe use "buffs" in other games as well, yet i know perfectly well how to pull myselfe back from dominating everything. Same was in Battlefront 2's beta test, i actualy ASKED the people if i should take a different class there because at some point i was pretty much the best in the room. And changing a class would actualy ballance out the game (because relearning how to play with it). If i want to play, lets say RP Asuna with a Kirito, then by all means OP Kirito, he was in the anime, he should ingame (no matter the programing, he could still see the attacks way bevor they would actualy hit him, thus he is more powerfull from the beginning than ANY monster(the drive system needs a great deal of ones personal movement and skill, thus kirito, a trained pro, would actualy be the best of the best right from login anyway)

It shows that you have cheated in some way. Modified equipment, health, sp, stats etc...
