killing a moloch on unstable

where the hell do you shoot on the moloch? first fight I had with a moloch was the solo stable version. destroyed it with like, 7 railgun shots under it's carapace and then finally going out and killing it with the SMG. second one, on a multiplayer server stable, killed pretty quickly. trying out the unstable today and I have not been for the life of me able to barely hurt the moloch. 6 railgun shells on the underside, all hit, and it still had about 80% of hp. what did they do to these?

I've killed a few on unstable recently, they're incredibly tough now. Even survived a nuclear railgun shot to the underside and the next one being a regular loaded with UEX. Piercing ammo in the coil gun ripped it up through the broken carapace from the top though.

There was some talk on discord about railguns vs molochs being off. Nuclear vs UEX rails do barely differ in damage output vs the molochs underbelly. And in general it seems that rails are pretty much useless vs coilguns now regarding dps.

But any coilgun shreds the underbelly of a moloch pretty solidly. Every moloch is pretty much free 5k. Rather underwhelming to fight against.

thank you for telling us, what about handguns? are they supposed to work or no?

I dont know about any special resistances of a moloch vs handguns. Would probably be an interesting nibbling contest vs the health bar regarding the low DPS vs a coilgun.
Theres also some youngsters hero stories about killing a moloch with a knife only...

Railguns are unfortunately very bad at talking out large creatures, contrary to what you would assume their purpose is.

If you happen to have a submarine like the orca which has 2 coilguns on the same side, you
can easily kill a moloch by focus-firing coilguns onto it.

You can even kill one without having to shoot at its underside provided you use a high-damage ammo type like physicorium or piercing, you can simply whittle away its HP through the shell.
