Inventory nerf
10.600:
Toolbelt made out of an organic fibre with 12 slots. Has it's own slot, pre-first. An extra inventory.
Storage container, made out of a steel bar. You cannot have it in the inventory, You have to hold it in one hand.
No toolboxes at all. So no more 10x toolboxes for easy looting.

Previously You had 10 slots, or at the very best 60 slots with toolboxes, nerfed from 120 slots. Now 10+12 and a further 12+12 if You grab both containers. Nerfed but more realistic I guess.

Thanks for this... I was so confused when we logged into our save and had lost all of our toolboxes! xD

Assuming duffel bags are a thing next update you can still have 40 slots (20 for each duffel) plus the possible addition of the new "storage containers" which could potentially give you 400 storage slots if the containers can hold 10 smallitems.

Or the devs screw us completly and make the new container not fit in cabinets/ duffels essentially making cabinets obsolete for any serious crew as crate racks will now be the new norm.

Ah yes, because making people have to swim slowly around infested waters and not have ready access to a gun without dropping your bag first sounds so fun..... Here's hoping they make the AI good enough to help on wrecks or we are completely screwed.

You have to hold it in one hand."
Apparently you can choose:
- SMG/shotgun/Scooter and no bag
- Revolver + 1 bag
- 2 bags

Sounds like an interesting choice to me.

The actual inventory-ception ergonomy has to go honestly so beware not to rant against quality of life improvements and interesting gameplay choice instead of the core of the problem.

I've seen custom subs where every square centimeter of wall is a cabinet filled with toolboxes + multiple fabricators.
If making such thing is necessary to play then that is the core of the problem.

But I'm curious, what resources are really consumed during the game?
fuel -> Uranium/Thorium/Fulgurium -> Mining
welding fuel -> Alcohol -> Mining
coil/railgun ammo -> Steel -> Carbon+Iron -> Mining
healing -> Mining
Gun's ammo -> Steel for harpoons, Need to buy for the rest

The only consumable thing that need to be bought (thus stored) are revolver rounds, shotgun shells and SMG mags.
All the rest can be gathered along the way by mining, recycled or used indefinitely.

So I genuinely ask the question since I spend more times making subs than playing with them:
What is the real amount of storage needed? Aren't players trying to make stocks of everything they find instead of just covering their needs?

Going through the abyss at one point my crew were going through about 6-8 piercing coil boxes and 4-8 frag filled railgun shells a round. This was in a section of the map with no stores for several missions meaning we either had to go outside where massive groups of threshers, hammers, and raptors constantly spawned or we had to rely on what we had stored before we got to the abyss.

With such ammo consumption is there any chance to go in there with vanilla subs ?
Bozhdynsky Oct 29, 2020 @ 8:47am
Probably You'd have to have everything on the ground.

You can store crates on racks instead of using toolboxes in lockers if you want dense storage.

I just use the toolbox mod to put them back as they were. Kinda sucks that most servers still don't use mods but once load order issues get worked out and the game gets a bit more stable I imagine servers with mods will be more popular.
