Captain Bots Should be Able to Dock As an OPTION, keep old navigation also.
The default auto navigate can be useful when needed, applying their helm skill to the boat, but they should be able to dock the ship as well in a rush.

Just dock, or dock and finish the run?

No offense but this is the development suggestions forum not the development rejections forum.
I understand your reasonable statement, but out of comfortable thought and ideal circumstance it would be super cool if we had a unique navigate to destination command to make captains dock with an outpost.

That'd just be an another griefing method or losing an entire round just because you forgot you've set the autopilot or ordered the bot (both the same thing, actually) to dock.

If you need a lot of "qol" features to make the game bearable for you after 1.3k hours of playtime, you're probably just bored of the game.

I didn't ask for a lot of quality features, I only asked for one. Some of the comments on these forums sometimes feel a bit extra...it would've been reasonable to just leave it at your first statement.

I agree with the premise, as a solo player it would be great to have more freedom to play as an ordinary member of the crew, the captain bot doing the steering, with a few captain-specific orders to govern their default actions when enemies or ice spires are encountered, and a few special circumstance orders possible such as 'full speed ahead' to outrun chasing enemies or 'hold station / get below them / get above them' when you want to stand and fight. A few tick boxes to set default actions too such as attempting to avoid certain enemy types once detected.

Being able to sit on the guns or do other things rather than spend most of the time at the helm would improve the game for solo and multiplayer I think, as not everyone enjoys being captain or helmsman.

Captain bot could make more call-outs in bot chat, with unobtrusive clickable order icons becoming visible when situations arise that would ordinarily require a decision.

I personally think it should be tabbed together with emergency options for bots, things you wouldn't always have them on like assault enemy for obvious reasons. An emergency choice to make captains dock or leave on for a bit of those transport missions making it more about the survival of the ship rather than the stops along the way on some journeys.

There are good points against it like griefing as said, but I really do think it'd contribute to the beauty of the game and allowing the freedom of play amongst class and playstyle.
I also want that bots could dock, it gets boring playin solo and always being the one to dock the ship, the bots don't even notify you that they arrived at the outpost and you need to dock. If i am an engineer/medic/guard/mechanic why do i need to use the steering wheel instead of the captain?

Because you're playing solo, so essentially you're every job on the submarine at the same time. That's the con of playing alone in a game built around multiplayer experience.
It would be cool if we had a command for specifically docking yeah.

All the other bot positions work fine just the captain that cant do his job.

I really don't think docking is too much of an ask. It could even be a separate command to avoid the potential issues you outlined before. If I can command every single other NPC to do their job without oversight, why not make it possible for the captain?
It is still beneficial for the player to take over because a real player can respond to unexpected issues, think outside the box, and master the job, but it would be insanely helpful if Captain bots could dock.

Oh man, I like this a lot. I would honestly just love a command for the captain to path the sub towards targeted monsters for missions.

This is easily applicable in situations you might run into if you ever left the cold caverns. If I need to man the guns to keep monsters away, but need to dock at the same time, I'd prefer the captain bot to dock because I'd usually have better weapon skill than it does.
I've played captain enough to know it can be monotonous and I wouldn't mind a little automation. Not something to totally replace human skill, but an alternative in case you need it.
