This could be remedied if players (probably the host) could simply swap to a bot and pilot them around on the fly.
Could be a toggle option in the server setup.
The 8% bonus from masterwork as per my opinion is fine being locked behind your character choice. But there are ways around it. Such as middle path assistant. Who can boost all crafting quality by +1.
It should also have a toggle to where the server host can assign access privileges to take control of bots within the game to avoid griefing from players with poor impulse control. It would be similar to assigning a salary in campaign if so.
And, this feature would not be complete without extra toggles in the server host menu, for player created characters and bots to have respawn or permadeath privileges as well. Infact, hireable NPCs should have different code flags over player created characters.
I tried a multiplayer mod that had these concepts in mind but it's buggy af. Devs can make this happen with far less effort and without the use of clunky jury-rigged LUA system tied to chat.. (Sorry modders, I've had so much trouble with the available options..)
THIS FEATURE HAS BEEN REQUESTED FOR QUITE A LONG TIME.
Edit: I think I'll stick with the mod for now. After a while I managed to understand it better. Being able to reserve characters is actually a godsend. But also easy to ruin saves with..
