Suggestion: Radio Jammer for Pirates
This idea came up to me while I was in the submarine editor, doing lots of wiring with wifi components.

How about giving pirates radio jammers?
It would make somewhat sense how they ambush people, and it could lead to hilarious moments - so I imagine - if all of sudden not only the ingame radio communication goes offline but also lots of your submarine "high tech" becomes useless or working against you.

Like: the jammer would periodically swap between blocking signals and swapping values for the opposite ones, aside from blocking communication entirely. And then when you try to aim your gun it goes the opposite direction when it is wifi controlled.

What do you think?

I'd be fine with pirates being able to hack systems connected to a wireless network, but definitely shouldn't be able to hack hardwired systems. It should also work both ways. If they hack our subs then we should be able to hack theirs. I also wouldn't like them changing the values of components that we can't even get to because they're buried in the sub's structures. EMP weapons would be a better option for screwing with systems.

I’m pretty sure the pirates use radios for communication, so radio jammers would end up destroying them because the pirate captain can’t give out orders. Also the switching radio channel thing would be terrible in singleplayer because that means you would have to switch to each member of the crew and individually set them back to the right channel after every single pirate encounter.

Not if it was directional and mounted outside the sub.
