- SHIFT+DEL'ed the, "Barotrauma" Folder.
...All to no avail, it still doesn't let me Host. It gives the same, "Error: The server process closed unexpectedly. A crash report (servercrashreport.log) may have been generated in the games root directory."
Neither does it Generate a, 'servercrashreport.log' file for me.
I've ran the, "DedicatedServer.exe" and changed the, "serversettings.xml" accordingly. It just Opens the Command-Terminal, which seems to 'Launch' the server, and then I go into the Game to see if I can join the Server in the Server-List, since it's set to "Public: True" in the, "serversettings.xml" and then also; Nothing.
Nada.
No Server to be found, all Port-Settings seems to be working, etc. I'm literally just unable to play the Game by Hosting my own Server. I can join others' Servers just fine though. Private or Public, it doesn't seem to matter.
It freaking sucks, since I would love to Host my own Server. Oh well...
Here's to hoping more people who encounter this same Error, corroborate so that it goes up in the Developers' Priority list for Investigating miscellaneous bugs like ours'.
I already did that. I run a Server-Tower seperate from my P.C., with a custom UNIX-Distro and everthing, my port settings are fine. I can Host Arma-3 Dedicated-Servers and most other Games perfectly fine.
I'll scramble around in Game Data-Files, see If anything comes up, 'servercrashreport.log'-wise and then post it here.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Not at all, this actually helps me know what it is not for me, and so step for step I'll eventually get closer. So no disappointment.
Welp, that at least solves one thing. I now at-least can know it's not my P.C. since it's not 'Low'-End. I mean, it's not High-End, but definitely not Low-End.
Also, I didn't really 'help' much, if anything I probably came off as a complainer. Thank you for, in-fact helping me!
First, I'd try to make sure my firewall isn't blocking anything related to Barotrauma. Just to make sure: type "Firewall" in your Windows search box at the bottom left side of your screen. You should then be able to see a Windows Firewall option like "Allow an app through firewall". Make sure ALL Barotrauma and Barotrauma dedicated-related check boxes are filled in with a green sign. If you are using another type of firewall, or if you are using an anti-virus, I can't guide you much but I suggest that you look at their settings as well to make sure they don't block you from hosting a game in Barotrauma. This could very well be the case.
To make sure your ports are working properly ( since you say they "seem" to be working, I'm led to believe you haven't quite tested them ), here's a few links. Simply enter the Barotrauma ports that you have opened and the websites should tell you whether they can communicate with them or not:
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
http://www.canyouseeme.org/
http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scan/
Make sure the same port numbers are written in your serversettings.xml file.
If you truly can't find a solution after all this, I suggest you contact your internet service provider. They usually can give you guidance on this type of thing, even remotely set things up for you if it's modem-related. I think I've given you all the necessary info, I'm not sure I can help much more than that.
Personally, I read many threads like these but none indicate clearly that it's the game's fault. Some people don't know how to handle port forwarding, some don't know other things or are afraid to modify certain settings. Some are veterans who simply omit a small detail too. Happens to the best of us. Plenty of people can host, including me; I have hosted a game just yesterday. I honestly don't see how it could be the game's fault.
I will move this thread to "Help & Technical Support".
OP got a new computer (supposedly on the same network as the previous) and it worked.
The game doesn't crash, it's the server that does - because it's not working. This is a way for the game to store info on why the server isn't working. This is most likely because the user's computer can't communicate with the other end. This either means it can't send or can't receive information for the server to open. This is less likely to be a game issue and more likely to be a firewall or port issue.
The crash log should be easily spotted by viewing quick access and scrolling through the most recent files ( if the problem just happened, it's most likely to be on top of that list ).
As I have pointed out, plenty of people can host. If it was a game issue, I believe no one, or a very small amount of people, would be able to host.
