microphone stopped working

When i join to my friends lobby, my mic and my friends' mic stop working. For me, its still listed and active on input devices but the testing bar that shows how loud you are talking remains blank. My mic volume is at 900% and mode is push to talk, but nothing changes even if i put it at voice activation and change the treshold.

What is strange is that the mic has worked before ingame, when i played with another -> we were manly using ingame voip. It also worked for a moment for me, but we switched back to discord because some of the others had this current problem i have now.

The host isnt running any mods as far as i know. Also, earlier when we played, there i had also some crashing when joining as spectator when i had a body in game and we were docked. I also had some console errors but i havent had that today.

Hi, it's hard to tell what could be causing the issue and I'm not sure if I saw a thread with the issue you've described in the past ( although I did see some general mic issues ). Since you say your mic and your friends' mics used to work, I think we can take the mic itself off the equation.

First, I'd try launching the game in administrator mode and see if the problem persists. This can solve issues with your peripherals that work but won't work with certain executables. For example if you use another software that uses mic functionalities ( voice chat, recording, voice modification etc. ), it can keep another software from using it. To launch administrator mode, right click on barotrauma.exe in your game folder.

Edit: Oh and... Just to make sure: if the host unchecks voice chat in the settings, voice chat won't work of course, and I believe you won't see your sound meter if you are in the lobby.

i didnt know host can disable voice chat, maybe that was it.

Does the game not like if mic is used by other programs?

It's usually the other way around - another software could keep your device from working in Barotrauma or any other game. Audio-related softwares can "mute" you and the sounds your computer makes outside of the said software for example.

But since you seem to indicate this is happening only when you join a very specific lobby, I'm really beginning to think this is the result of the lobby's settings, which is on the admin/host's end.
