Game Brightness?
Is there a way to increase the brightness of the game? I have my pc set as bright as it goes but the game is still extremely dark. I get that is some of the atmospherics of the game itself, but a little brighter would be nice. Any suggestions??

You could use the console command to effectively turn off the shadows, probably requires you to enable cheats (achievements would be disabled while cheats are enabled). I think the command is just something like 'lighting', maybe someone knows these console commands better than me, or you could look them up on the Barotrauma wiki.

If cheats aren't your bag, then I recommend a torch, or a weapon with a torch slot, or a glow stick (carry in one hand, revolver in the other). You can faff with the lights inside your sub so long as nobody else minds but to be quite honest I hate it when people do that, so ask first if you're not the host in multiplayer; I usually just leave a server that has bright lights in a sub, totally destroys the atmosphere IMO.

I haven't looked in the game settings recently but there might be something in there.

Appreciate the feedback. Settings dont really have much to them and dont want to cheat or take away the atmosphere of the game too much, sort of the point to keep you on the edge a bit. Ill have to try the glow stick idea and see how that works. Thanks man!

You can customize the submarine's lighting when interacting with lamps by using a screwdriver.

If you're playing single player then there are some mission types that become much more difficult, especially for a new player. After the second biome I tend to avoid cave missions (mining, nest, artefact) as there's going to be some nasties in there and unless you're experienced then they're likely to just eat you very quickly. A lot of the time the rewards are not worth the risk for the solo diver, best avoided unless you're desperate. Mine the crap out of the first couple of biomes and live off the minerals from there.

You can drop glowsticks in water and they will float to help you see, or throw down flares to distract enemies away from you while you get ready with a weapon.
