Report a translation problem
I think this happens to people who have "unusual" microphones.
It appears using Voicemeeter somehow solved their issue. Could be worth a try, perhaps.
I will try that out in the coming days and report back.
EDIT:
Maybe I am not setting it up correctly, but Barotrauma now simply doesn't recognise both my speakers and my microphone (discord, other games, etc, worked fine though, so I think the issue is isolated to baro). Fair to say this has not worked for me, but may be a solution for someone else.
It's possible that this could be a "detail-specific" issue. Not many people seem to have it.
Two questions that may help locate the source of your issue: What operating system are you using? And what language is your computer using? Some users on Linux have reported recent issues, and others have reported issues involving their computer's operating language ( ex: chinese or japanese ), although most of those issues have been addressed in the recent hotfix. Just trying to find the origin of the problem here.
I also found this thread in which a user encountered the "40964" issue and apparently solved it. It may be unrelated but I thought it was still worth linking just in case: https://steamcommunity.com/app/602960/discussions/1/3040481812847063774/
If you still experience issues, I suggest posting a report ticket on the Github page as it's the #1 place if you want to be read by the developers quickly. They do review reports here but the forum's layout isn't as good as the Github page, and given the current activity due to the official release of the game, your report could get buried by others over time.

Apparently VoiceMeeter can help: you just need to place your mic in hardware input and choose it in game.
Looks like my game can hear my voice, didn't try to play yet, but at leats I can see the volume. That's good, but, honestly, I would like to play without side apps. So we are waiting for hotfixes, I hope, it will be resolved.

Disabling "Razer Synapse/Cortex" helped me
I also thought for a long time why is this so?
Then I removed it from the autorun, launched the game and everything works well
It is possible that the author has a completely different problem, I hope it will help
