My friend can't join campaign game because of the long save download times
My friend has difficulties joining my game (and others have difficulties joining his game when he hosts) because of the long loading times for the campaign save. I remember that we had this problem before but I forgot how we fixed it. This problem isn't because of the mods because we tried to play vanilla and this problem still occured. Is there any way to fix it? (If other information is needed please tell me)

"File verification says everything is fine. When I enter the game (without mods) in the main menu, everything is fine, but problems appear when I enter another person's game. Very long loading of the save file, crashes to the lobby and I get kicked for desync." - his description of the problem

When you make the game lobby there is an option to send the submarine to other players. If you untick that it can reduce load times on campaign starts.

Also, the ping you see in the server browser is not your ping to the host, but to steams servers. To view the ping within the server you need to look after you have joined. In some cases a 25ms ping in browser is a 300ms ping in game.

Thanks a lot, I will update this message as an answer if it works.

I would check the console (f3) for any errors that might appear. Although this sounds like the issue is isolated to your friend. So perhaps their rig is having trouble with running the game?

Do they have above minimum specs to play the game? Or they might have some packet loss going on? It sounds like an issue I've run into with previous builds of Barotrauma. But those could be "solved" with a strong host machine. Not that I'm saying this is the case. Only spit balling.

This can be true also. Slow host machine makes desync, as does slow client. They would have to be under min specs for that though I think. Or on Mexican internet.

Hello brother, sorry if it is already late, but I think I can help you.

First recommendation:
Disable texture compression from the graphics settings of the game.

Second recommendation:
1 - Install and enable Lua for Barotrauma
2 - Install and enable Performance Fix
3 - Host a server with LuaForBarotrauma ServerExecutable
4 - While you are in the lobby press F3
5 - Type "install_cl_lua".
6 - Restart the game
7 - To run a server with the mods we just installed, enable the Lua for Barotrauma executable when hosting, without this they will not have the performance improvement.
This applies for Server and Client. So if you have both installed the optimization will be complete.

It's okay, it's all right. Anyway, you have to know how to configure, it's not for your country, tell a yankee to join an Argentinean server. It will go like ass even if he has 1000mb of symmetrical internet. It is not always the connection quality. Regards

It doesn't seem to work as intended.
Instead of fixing the problem for my friend it created problem for another one.
Maybe tha's because I use mods.

I had them installed but I didn't type install_cl_lua in the console
Maybe that's the problem.
That's right. It is essential to put the command in the lobby, not elsewhere.
Once you enter that command and reboot, you are ready.
I hope you can solve it.

Greetings!
I also recommend you to create a "Dedicated" server.
It manages the resources better than from the game.

To run a dedicated server with LuaForBarotrauma you must go to the installation folder of the game and run LuaDedicatedServer.bat

You must configure the server from the serversettings.xml file, but not from the game installation folder, you must do it from LuaForBarotrauma, which is installed with mod Workshop.

Its location is in:
...Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\602960\2559634234\Binary
