Welding gun not working?
Re-iterating the problem hopefully to better explain it: specific welding tools simply do not work, while others do when I equip them. And yes, they have welding fuel tanks attached to them. The animation seems to be showing, but the actual repairs don't seem to be affected.

We know it should be working because the structures being affected by the welding tool are highlighted by a rectangle, but they just aren't being replenished no matter how long we try to weld the structure.

Battery? Welding gun?
Your issue seem to be mod-related. Ask the mod devs.

What do you mean mod-related? My team and I don't have mods installed.

Sorry for the confusion, but I'm referring to the Welding Tool and its Welding Fuel Tank.

Oh, ok. you might want to change that in the first post, because it sound as if you use something like the EK mods with electric welders.

Welders and fuel tanks should definatly not be a problem. Its not maybe an old save?
Double check welders in a single mission with a vanilla sub.
If the issue persists you might want to open a bug ticket on github:

Just maaaaybe you're putting in oxygen instead of welding fuel? Yup, this game allows you to replace one with the other on purpose so that you may mess up when in a hurry.

Hi, are you new to Barotrauma? If so, I suggest you have a look at the in-game mechanic tutorial. Like Lipi, I am led to believe you somehow misunderstood how welding tools work.

If he's done what I think he's done, the tuts won't help lol. He'll just have to take care he doesn't put in oxygen where he's supposed to load welding fuel and vice versa.

Hint: Put in welding fuel in an oxygen mask or diving suit and wear it. See what happens. ;)

Hey Flaming Pike, I'm familiar with how welding tools work, friends and I have been playing for about 10 hours. Specific welding tools simply do not work, while others do when I equip them. Maybe i can record a session and show you.

Are you using a custom sub? Mods? Which ones? Could be that the welding fuel tanks contained in the welding tools on that sub are configured incorrectly. It could also be a desync related issue, but I doubt that.
I've seen players mentioning this issue previously and what worked for them was that they switched out the welding fuel tank inside the tool and it started working.

Same problem here, no custom subs or mods, far into the campaign. Some welding tools just don't repair with a proper welding tank and animation, (some don't even have the animation). Have gathered many welding tools from wrecks and all places you can find them.

Welding fuel bug
Despite making sure welders have welding fuel, it seems as though either the welders or the fuel get corrupted and it doesn't let me fire the welder at all, with error message welding fuel required. Please help. I tried deconstructing and reconstructing with ethanol. I tried changing welder, and fuel. Seemed to help then bug again.??

Ahem NO I didn't put oxygen.

vanilla no mods, singleplayer, and i've switched a dozen tanks to try to get it to work. SOME do work. and seemed to be tied to the fuel tank rather than the welder.
Same happened to me with crafted welding tanks, the bought ones work fine.
Unless if I put a single crafted one into the same stack as many bought ones, they get "contaminated" by the crafted buggy one, and then they won't work either.
L1ghtX May 10, 2021 @ 4:30pm
Thanks! This explains it perfectly. I stacked a bugged one with new bought ones then they were all garbage. I wonder if you can use a pure tank to purify bugged?

Hi, someone talked about this ( or at least a very similar issue before ). I will move this to Help & Technical Support.

Edit: Both issues seem somewhat similar so I took the liberty to merge both threads.
