Someone disconnected engine from main console?
Panda V4 Aug 15, 2020 @ 1:19pm
yeah same thing happened yesterday on a server i was playing. We where literary sitting below the dock and had to move like 1 meter to the left to dock and finish the mission and we couldnt do it.

Reactor on. Engine powered. Wires connected to main console. Nothings happening. In the end i even disconnected the engine from the main console and tried to manually order it to drive backwards, but the sub wasnt moving no matter what.

This game is so buggy.

If everythings working fine but the sub doesnt move left and right that means something is wrong with the engine. Likely reasons for an engine not working include:

-the captain accidently pressed a "toggle engine" button in his navigation terminal (only some subs have these)

-someone unwired the engine

-theres a damaged junction box that needs to be repaired to give power to the engine

-the engine itself needs repair

i doubt its a bug but with barotrauma you never know

1) the power light on engine is glowing.
2) Engine is unwired from command console
3) Engine slider is moved manually.
4) No movement happens

explain what could possibly prevent the engine from working

I doubt it's a bug. The only bugs that exist in this game are with the multiplayer systems (desyncs and getting kicked from servers), and a some with artifacts and alien ruins not generating correctly. There'll be other forces at play causing your issue.

The whole server was baffled not just me.

Perhaps you got caught by a Thalamus's fleshgun? Send someone out ot the sub and check if there is a large tentacle connected to your hull

I've had this a while before. It's a weird, really specific glitch and there was some sort of velocity toggle command the host needs to use. It happened to us when we were playing with the engine which included disconnecting it's wires. Sorry I can't remember the command, but hopefully you can find it and this helps. Pretty sure it was something like "toggle x velocity".
Bloop Aug 20, 2020 @ 5:49pm
If we're going off of that you could lockx and lockx again to see if it resets the engine velocity. I've had this bug on 3 seperate ships so it doesn't seem sub specific at the very least.

Hello, I'll move your thread to "Help & Technical Support". Perhaps you will get even more answers. Personally I think it's a wiring issue. My advice is to have a look at existing vanilla subs in the editor and see how the wiring works on them. :lunar2020contentgoat:

I've just had the exact same issue. No x-axis movement despite full power and control. Y-axis movement is unaffected. This is in a sub i've built with the large engine, I've never had this issue with the small engine. Must be command glitch, never happens in the sub editor test, but i lose x-axis movement very soon after starting a sandbox mission with the sub.

EDIT: same sub with a small engine, same issue. Error only occurs during actual gameplay, not testing in the sub editor

I've had some luck with this bug I believe - it seems to depend on the placement of the engines in the sub editor. I think the green box that appears inside the engine when you select it needs to be entirely within a hull.

Found the command that fixed it for us a while back: "togglex". You just do that twice, fixed it for us right away. Obviously make sure there's not a wiring issue, if it you're having this issue suddenly without fiddling around with wiring then that command should help. If not have I have no clue.
