How do I edit the sub [Edited for Answer, read me~]
Submarine Editor mid multiplayer campaign. Would I have to do this in singleplayer and kinda transfer saves over or something?

Edit: I found it on Reddit, surprisingly enough. Credit to u/stormcomponents -

"Search "Barotrauma Decompressor". It's a simple stand alone app that you can run. Click browse, search for your multiplayer save (it's under appdata somewhere). Once you find your save, hit decompress. It'll create a folder with your .sub file in it. That file needs to be moved to LocalMods under Baro installation directory. Then you can edit it in the sub editor. Make your changes, save the sub as you normally would. Then copy your updated .sub into the decompressed folder and over-write the original. Go back to the tool, select that folder and hit compress. It'll overwrite your save file (presuming you kept the folder name the same) and you're good to go.

Real handy for updating and editing your sub / fixing things during a campaign. You can even swap the sub out entirely if you wanted to.

If you struggle, I could always make a video showing the process I suppose"

---And he isn't wrong I am currently editing the sub of my current campaign, it has the changes I made during the campaign like suits and such.

Yeah my dear captain wants a neck extension on their bridge, so far I only have been able to do this by using a save editor and converting it to a Singleplayer Save but, I wouldn't mind a simple way that may or may not break the game, mid campaign.

I don't think there is a 'safe' method to do this, the save editor is the only way that I'm aware of. Keep a backup of your save file in case things go wrong.

When I do sub editing in my single player game I've always just bought the new sub (has to have a different name to my current sub) in-game, don't know if you can do the same in multiplayer mid-campaign.

I just went on to googling it, I'll edit the post.

Did one of the latest updates break this functionality?

I suspect that to be the case as I have edited my campaign sub probably 60+ times and never had a single issue under 1.4.4.1.

Yeah, because I am desperately trying to find a way to edit my sub. I followed the instructions to the letter, and my sub does not show up in the list. This is the 5th guide I have found and tried that didn't work.

Did you actually install the campaign sub as a mod?

Also tell me the name of your ship and the contents of your Filelist.xml

Yes I did. I also followed many other guides which I will link to show how much I have done trying to fix this.

Ship: EK_Revuk_Mk-I.sub

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<contentpackage name="Brookhaven" modversion="1.0.0" corepackage="False" gameversion="1.8.8.1">
<Submarine file="%ModDir%/EK_Revuk_Mk-I.sub" />
</contentpackage>

I lost the link for the 4th one, but it was really old and outdated anyways.
Okay so, you:
Unpack the save?
Pull the sub file into the editor, that was ripped by the save-unpacker?
Then make your changes, save it as its own entity of the same name?
Replace it in the save file?
Then Re-pack the save?

I'm not good at giving directions.

No, I can't make changes. After unpacking, and making into a mod, the sub does not show up in the sub list to load in the submarine editor.

Edit: and yes, I did activate the mod.

That is concerning. Your Filelist checks out to me.

The only thing I can think of outside of game updates breaking the save tool, is that there were several versions of the Decompressor last I checked. Not sure if you would have better luck with newer or older versions of the tool.

I'm currently using version 1.0 for game version 1.4.4.1. Being that game updates broke virtually everything else, my money is on that being the issue. Though you could always try different tool versions.

Well here's the problem, *my* sub was an edit of a mod, with permission from the mod author of the Iroh (giving credit) and its been saved locally. You don't need to upload it as a mod, to save it or edit it.

You need the Barotrauma Save Decompressor.
You need to decompress your save file.
Then pull that sub file, dump it into the ingame editor, and save it locally.

At least that's how I did it.
It *Should* work.
