Just don't use weapons relying on burns.
Easiest way)
Don't use revolvers or SMGs. Or explosives.
A Shotgun is fine.
The best weapons are:
- Coil Rifle Harpoon (physicorum)
If you have the Slayer talent, you get extra 50% damage. The Physicorum harpoon already deals enough damage to kill a Fractal in 2 or 3 hits.
- Handcannon
Wielded by a Captain or Assistant. This blows away Moloch's armor with a single hit. A Fractal Guardian is a smaller target so your aim needs to be good.
Still, the weapon deals such damage that you can't lose.
- HMG
This weapon is not accurate and it doesn't do a lot of damage with every shot. But it fires quickly and pushes back or stuns the Guardian with every shot.
It has a large clip and it's easier to use than others.
Give it to a Sec. Officer with Rifleman talent (10% extra damage with rifles; Warlord adds another 10%)
- Assault Rifle
It hits hard and it's accurate.
Sec. Officers have a lot of talents that increase health or defense, plus a couple that add extra damage.
Their Assistants can get a few of these as well.
Captain and Medical Officer also add talents that increase crew health and swim speed.
When these talents sync, your crew becomes much tougher.
If you're playing Singleplayer, order a bot or two to follow, but don't use the strongest character as leader.
Bots have trouble with pathfinding inside ruins. When you want to go solo, separate from your group and go do or kill whatever is needed. Then swim back.
Use the leader just to keep your team together, and to have them open fire together when a Guardian shows up.
I have more trouble with Swarm Feeders. P. Steam Cannon kills them quickly enough, though switching weapons can be slow if you use Assault Rifles or HMGs.
Don't forget that you can hear Guardians as they move through the ruin. They open and close hatches, so that should help you stay alert.
