How do you edit the contents of a locker/ammo rack/container?

Basically, TL;DR I want to edit a workshop submarine because it has a bunch of overpowered items that I don't really want, to make it more "balanced" for my personal enjoyment (I play solo with AI). As somebody who has little to zero experience with the sub editor, how would I go about doing this?

You select the locker, and press E on it.
After the contents show up with E, you can CTRL+left click to remove items.

If it is hidden behind something else for art, you have to drag out the locker until it is visible. When you hover the mouse over, a small dropdown list will appear and you can select it.

I right-click on the container and in the pop-up menu select Open, then I can drag things out until it says 'Drop' in red and BAM! They're gone!

When you hover over an area that may have more than one thing under the pointer it will show a small black list of items, you can use up/down arrow keys or the mouse pointer to select the item you want to interact with / edit.
