Is it possible to use Depth Charges without loader?
Title. I've got a Humpback without a loader, so can I just let the charge go from airlock? Or does it have to be "primed" by the loader to trigger on impact?

I think they are considered "ammo" for the depth charge tube so they cant be used without one. No release from the airlock 🙁
If you want the decoy feature on the other hand... for that you can activate a sonar beacon and flush it out of the airlock. Or, because you mentioned the humpback, if you have a railgun mounted you can activate the sonar beacon, put it in a railgun shell and fire it into oblivion. Works too.

Thank you for the answer and suggestion with sonar. That'll come in handy.
If you have a railgun I believe you can now load an assistant who might be holding a depth charge, which is even funnier if they are also a clown.
If you take a regular depth charge, put an active sonar beacon into it, and drop it out of a bottom airlock it will function almost identically to a sonar depth charge. Only difference is that it may fall slower, and might also make less noise.
You could also put a timed detonator into a depth charge, turn it on, and drop it. but I think you might as well just toss the detonator out by itself at that point.
