Well, it's an unique game with hundreds if not thousands of hours worth of replayability, that's why the price is so high. If it had some sort of competition, they'd lower it.
Also the game often goes on 40-50% sales anyways so, it's a no brainer imo.
I think the could be said for dozens of games, but I feel like games with similar presentation have lower prices. Value is a really personal thing. I love Barotrauma and would pay full price for it, but I already know the game.
I would also be interested to hear if you guys typically play solo or with a crew. I think the game price makes sense for a single player game, but I (personally) hate playing solo. It feels like a shell of the overall experience. Maybe it seems expensive to me because I view the game as a multiplayer experience and I can't think of many other multiplayer titles in this price range.

I doubt it's because of presentation but more because of gameplay itself, also there aren't many submarine games of this type or at least depth as well as the modding capabilities.
Singleplayer, a lot. Buying the game for friends is pointless as they will always get terrified of the 2D view as well as the initial "complexity" of the game then run away to their little CS2 or whatever is their current addiction fix.
Playing on public multiplayer games also sucks as a majority of servers are now modded with (playable) vanilla servers being in the minority, there's also the fact that most players are very clueless and selfish or the servers get invaded by griefers or simply the fact that you'd just waste your time taking part in a campaign that'll likely never continue again.
You have higher chances of finding crewmates on the recruiting subforum as then you are able to have private sessions with people that are actually interested in PLAYING the game.
with that said though, thats as much as my food for a week and i dont have income, only outcome.
