Saddest campaign end
I had a great campaign going and finally saved up enough marks to upgrade the starting sub to a new one. Started transferring items over, but started with the fuel rods. Ended up in a situation where the old sub ran out of reactor fuel, lost power, and therefore, could not dock. No way to get back to the station or the new ship to pick up a fuel rod...so campaign effectively over.

Pretty lame way to go out.

Yeah that is why when I make custom subs I fill them with a lot of rods... it`s a bad way to go. Although the devs at least made it so you can mine for uranium and thorium to make rods out of and in the most recent update made it so minerals are actually findable. I wish that back up batteries lasted longer.

If you were in the Dugong then you should be able to toggle your batteries(button in the navigation terminal) so that you can dock. Usually at the start of a round after you have left a station the sub is pretty much right against the docking port, so as long as the nav terminal has power then you can re-dock and continue swapping stuff over.

If you're close to the station, you can always take the scooter and swim there yourself, you will have the option to end the mission.

If need be, it's also possible to decompress the save-file using tools, and edit it to switch the sub you spawn in. Should spawn you on the sub that now has the fuel rods.

I sometimes end up in a game where players give up too easily. As long as you have fuel rods and welding tools, there's hope. When you're out of welding fuel, you cross your fingers, but when you're out of fuel rods, there's very little you can do. Connecting charged batteries and using the limited amount of power they hold, trying to find a wreck with rods in it or getting to the nearest station with a scooter like Katitoff said are the only solutions you have when you have no more fuel. :diverhusk:

However, I don't understand why you said your campaign is over. Couldn't you just restart the mission?
