I'm inclined to say "by using the search function".

There's also a wiki-article on it. https://barotraumagame.com/wiki/Ballast_Flora

TL;DR flamers or plasma cutters, or wire two detonators with frag grenades to a button.

I just chuck a couple of frag grenades into the infected ballast tank. That'll kill the root system, and the rest of the infection will die off pretty quickly once it's dead.

Those frags will cause damage in your ballast tank that you'll have to go in and repair afterwards, but it's a simple and effective way to deal with the problem.

thanks you guys :D

Dive suit and plasma cutters is all you need, a single person can do it easily. Just cut at the root of the flora untill it disapates, this method will not damage your submarine at all. Just make sure AI crewmates stay away.

The only thing you can do is rig Nuclear Depth Charges all through your ship and then push the button while saying a prayer to the Great Husken Endworm in the deep, or if you prefer, the Honkmother.

You know what, yeah, I'm going with this. It's even better than my solution.
People tend to make it a bigger issue than it is, just get a divesuit on and point your plasmacutter at the root pump for a while.
So far I've been able to stay distant enough from the growth to not get burnt in the process.

If you visit a Military Station before encountering the barnacles or whatever they are, and you disable a security guard in one way or another while you're there and yoink their ID, you can rob their armoury. I don't know if it randomises but I'm pretty sure I got some Flamers, Incendium Grenades and possibly even some Incendium C-4 as well, which is good to stow somewhere incase of any ballast growth going on.

Just don't miss your grenade throws. Or get too close to the walls without adequate protection or you'll get melted. And don't hit the Clown accidentally with the grenade launcher. Do it on purpose.

You grab a welder and keep welding the infected pump until it's dead.

Firstly, try to use screw to manipulate (cut the wire from terminal )the pump , drain out the water and cut off the power immediately. Then u can use plasma to cut its root or flame gun and distinguish fire afterwards if you like

The best method is prevention - it's more difficult if you're running without the active scanner running but the thing to look for is a sparkly effect on the scanner OR a cloud of green spores if you have visual (e.g. through a periscope or window). If you see yourself approaching or entering the spore cloud just do a sudden full ballast purge to rise the sub out of or around it, or navigate below it (without entering the cloud).

I always manually check the ballast tanks if I've been near or through a spore cloud at the earliest safe opportunity. If I see the flora root or flora (it will probably rapidly be rising out of the ballast tank hatch by the time you get there), take a welding tool or plasma cutter and a suit, stand as far away as I can so that the flame still touches the root, it takes maybe 30 seconds and the root will disappear along with the flora.

If the flora is along the walls outside of the ballast tank then explosives / grenades might be your only sensible option, unless you have a lot of burn meds available.

Frag grenades decimate ballast flora. Two should usually clear an infestation, and since your ballast tanks are usually small and contained, you can be a big damn hero like from Starship Troopers and run up to the hatch, crack it open, lob a grenade in there and then sprint ragdoll to safely like being a badass is going out of style.

I'm actually not that afraid of ballast flora anymore because of the sheer power of frag grenades against them. It's way more effective than incendium grenades or flamers, anyway. Verdict isn't in on the grenade launcher being useful though, someone keeps selling those because "OOH 1,000mk CAN'T RESIST OOH" :captainclown:

i've found fastest, easiest way is frag grenades thrown at the infected pump as another person said.

Grenade launchers have been best for me in large ballast tanks, where you've got enough room to stand outside the blast radius. In my runs, it's been safer and more accurate to fire launcher grenades than it is to tempt fate and gravity with thrown grenades in a dark room.

I prefer incendiary grenades. Drain the water, lob a single fire nade in the ballast and shut the door. Wait until the fire runs out of o2 and admire your work. Refill the ballast tank and go on your way.
