Massive FPS drops in later biomes?
just reached the 4th biome which looks like a vulcanic biome and god wtf are those frames there??? my fps goes down to 40-30 in that biome is there any way to fix this its literally unplayable it sometimes even drops down to 10fps...

Specs for the annoying nerds:
Gtx-1080ti
i7-8700
16gb ram

should be more then enough for this pixel game

Yeah i have same troubles as host.
Someone on forum used "performance fix" mod. You can try it,maybe helps)

The FPS you get is largely dependant on your single core CPU processing power, if you use Afterburner with on screen display with individual cores shown, you'll probably see one core doing most of the work. The game does a lot of physics calculations for objects and effects.

You can maybe help matters by reducing the number of objects the game is trying to keep track of - tidy things away into cupboards (the game still tracks them, but they won't be bouncing around the sub), turn off some graphical effects (some of the physics-based effects might rely more on CPU than GPU), reduce the screen resolution if you have it set quite high (e.g. try 2k instead of 4k).

Hi!

We are actually working on an update focusing mainly on performance optimizations, here's a message I posted on a different thread about this topic:

We are continuously working on optimizing the game, and aim to include some of those fixes in each update we release, including the larger 'content updates'.

However, we do agree that Barotrauma's performance needs improving, which is why our next update will focus mainly on optimization and various bugfixes! Now, your mileage may vary and each setup will handle the game differently, but our internal testing has already shown notable gains in performance with the upcoming optimizations.

I can't give a specific release date for the update yet, as there is still much to test and improve, but you can expect it to arrive before the end of the year.

Smooth sailing! (hopefully even smoother after the update :captainsmooth: )

So, TLDR: our next update will aim to address performance issues!

It would actually be very beneficial to know if your performance improves after the update and by how much. If you have the time, you could post some specifics in this thread when you feel like you have enough information. Also as a reminder, certain mods can have a major negative impact on performance. So if you are using any mods, it would help to list all of them.

make a benchmark scenario, so anyone ca do a more proper before and after, including yourself. and last but not least use very old hardware while testing
Well, performance is still terrible in later biomes, sadly.
