Noob question: How do you fix a beacon station?
I went alone as the captain/engineer. But is there a way, as the captain, to go together with the engineer (AI) and tell him to fix it with his screwdriver/wrench? Or do I have to go solo?

In the end, he didn't have 55 stat so he couldn't repair...

55 electrical is the skill required to do the job risk free. Everyone is free to try with some risk of failure.
There is an in game tutorial that goes over some of the basics. But the short answer is you need to fix and power up the reactor/power source and then turn on the sonar.

Turn on the sonar. = mission complete.

I had one where the reactor was powered by like, a water valve? It was weird stuff.

I turned it on, then when I went to the other station to complete the mission, it said it wasn't turned on and it failed lol

I don't think there even is a risk if the device is off and/or unpowered.

Did you turn the sonar back off? It needs to be active when you end the round - which is easy, because everything relevant turns indestructible once the sonar is on, and beacon-reactors don't consume fuel. But if you turned it off manually it will fail.

Go in with a weapon to clear out any nasties, then repair all of the walls and equipment, check that everything powers up when you turn on the reactor (you remembered to bring a nearly empty fuel rod, right? Fuel rods don't expire when used in a beacon station so no need for a full one) and leave it on automatic, make sure you bring a screwdriver and wrench too as you will need to repair stuff and usually do some wiring. Once everything is looking hunky-dory, and the beacon station is dry, turn on the active sonar at the console and check for incoming bad guys (because the game usually magically spawns some in just near the beacon station, and why not eh?) then head back to the sub and get on with the rest of your mission. So long as there were no more nasties around the beacon station when you leave, it should be fine.

You can look in the sub editor to see how a typical beacon station is wired, most follow the same general wiring plan even if they have the weird "hydro" power source (hint: it's a design cheat, it's not really powered by the water, you just don't need a fuel rod for those ones). Power source -> junction boxes -> pumps and console.

All nonsub activity harder when solo with bots. They can shoot from turrets they can steal your divingsuit they can fix all stuff at sub...but sadly they cant help you outside(mining resources, helping on allien ruins).
And yeah, they cant fix beacon for you (maybe im wrong, but my bots never do it even when we docked and all leakes shuted)

Go in, connect all wires properly, repair junction boxes and sonar itself, power up reactor(or activate water generator in some variants), turn on sonar, done.

As long as you do all repairs before turning on power source, you won't have electrocution.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they used to be able to repair beacon stations during Early Access, but that was a bit of a bug I think (bots trying to do stuff outside of the sub) as it caused other problems.

If you just turn the sonar on without actually fixing the leaking and flooding in the beacon station, then it is very likely that a junction box or the reactor will break down before you can reach the end of the mission, which makes the sonar stop working. If you get to the end of the mission and the sonar on the beacon station isn't working, then you won't get credit for turning it on earlier.
