I think best modded sub should be next to empty
and player has lots of room to fill their own items and wire work
my go to starting sub, good for early game transport missions, not as clunky as the camel
Honestly the base game subs are insanely under-powered, as the claws and teeth of smaller creatures shouldn't rip through a steel hull in under a minute. The only creatures that should threaten a sub are those large ones with crushing power to tear through steel or bashing like the hammerheads.
Personally speaking, I think small creatures should not even target sub hulls.
What the hell are your men doing if they allow something to claw your hull for 30 seconds? Besides, a man with a welding tool can keep a crawler outside indefinitely (while the fuel lasts).
Agreed. We need smaller creatures that only threaten divers (and maybe shuttles).
BTW, Tiger threshers once used to be unable to bite the hull, they relied on Bone Threshers to make holes for them, while Bone Threshers themselves couldn't enter the submarine (well, mostly :)
That was a nice game mechanics, ppl even made use of it, killing Bones and leaving Tigers alive for protection. Tigers are very aggressive and attack every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing on sight without any sign of fear. Submarine was the last of their priorities, but they followed it nevertheless, making a meat show for the gunners if they encountered anything alive :)
I'm all for the new small (or otherwise) creatures that won't target hulls, but will follow the sub anticipating a tasty snack :)
Always my own creations
Yep, as a sub builder I have to agree. I like my submarines the most
Speaking of shape shifters, it would be funny if someone built a sub that actually transformed into another sub. I am half tempted to build a sub that literally can come apart at every major section just for the heck of it.
My only issue with Vanillia subs is the class system
All subs should just be variations of attack subs - with empty slots that players can pick and choose what to upgrade or add to the sub.
With things like ability to swap out engines, reactors, prefix slots that can choose to add Fabricator or more ammo storage or more cargo storage, etc.
