How many Junction boxes/batteries do I need?
I'm building my first sub and its roughly the same size as the Humpback with 1 large engine, 2 coilguns, 1 double coilgun, 1 railgun, 2 large pumps, med fab, default fab,
and a deconstuctor.

Its your choice really. If you want something generic though. Then I would say just enough junctions to wire everything with maybe 1 spare for extra in game wiring. Another 2 super capacitors for weapons and 2 back up batteries would also feel pretty default.

I just tend to add juction boxes as I need them when building, so I'll reserve space for maybe 6 or 7 boxes on a wall probably near the reactor, or you could create a junction box room or two like in the Orca.

I recommend spreading out your lights across the junction boxes so that you will get that 'dimming' effect when there's high power drain going on, adds atmosphere and gives you useful visual cues that you're using a lot of power at that moment.

Some people will put all of their lights into one junction box and that's fine too, but if that junction box fails then so do all of your lights.

As Kratos says, aim to have a few slots available after everything you want to do is hooked up in your junction box array for in-campaign stuff.

best way to use junction boxes is to decide how many electrical items you want. so say 4 pumps. first you need. a power source. So a reactor. reactors only out put once. so link to one junction box. then use two separate junction boxes from that. one will be direct power to items. the other will be if you want batteries in the circuit for recharging. so say 4 batteries link the inputs to one junction box for your batteries. all out puts from batteries should go to a relay. then from the relay to a junction box. you can place a button on the relay set state to cut the out put of the batteries. that way you wont overload the circuit when using the reactor and recharge the batteries. now place another junction box. link the main power junction box to it. and the output junction box from the batteries. this is a complete circuit. then place another junction box and link to that box that links both reactor and batteries. now place 3 junction boxes in a row. and link to circuit. each junction box can only link 5 wires a time. so 4 items to a box. or 3 items and a new junction box. best way is use a relay for each items from a junction box. that way you can get more for your junction box. but keep in mind that relays have a default power out put 1000. so don't put items that need loads of power. alternatively you can adjust the output in edit. and link either direct from a junction box. or a relay. weapons should always be link to a capacitor. they operate efficiently that way. power saving. always link button on relays to disconnect power from a item. say fabricator.

ive left you a blueprint for a circuit basic setup. hope this helps
Hey baby you just gotta feel the junction boxes you know what i'm sayin? But probably 6-9. Can reduce the sprite size to fit more in.
