Thankfully, editing the cabinets for the bots is a matter of seconds.
What you should do if you want to do it yourself:
option A - before starting a campaign
- load submarine in the submarine editor
- click on the cabinets and assing tags via the "..." menu
- it also tells you there what kind of items are being put by the bots according to the tag
- check all cabinets on the ship for tags until you are satisfied
- the game will in doubt tell you with a warning if the minimum amount of storage for a certain tag is not met
option B - if you already started a campaign
- create a copy of the submarine for editing
- extract the actual submarine file you are already using with this https://ignis05.github.io/baro-save-editor/
- overwrite the copy for the submarine which you prepared for editing
- edit submarine as described above
- delete the current campaign ship in the save editor
- upload the edited submarine from you localmods folder
option B is what I am using constantly with my crew to accomodate their wishes in regards this and that and not to lose any progress. Thanks to the save editor I also managed to adjust the difficulty without worrying.
If this game had the annoying parts completely automated like item sorting/crafting/deconstructing stuff like boxes/bots grabbing certain load-outs it would be such a drastic change where maybe I could only play one person and not baby sit the bots
Hm? Were the vanilla ships not just fine with tags? They have other issues, though...
Always be careful with the latter. Even if you do not play with traitors, that can turn prisoner transports into a real mess real quick. The first one which I did with the new crew of mine resulted with half of the people dead because no one took care of the prisoners properly despite I told everyone to have stun guns and batons ready and to cuff them right away.
Its always a chore on a BIG ship like the "STOICK" ...where on first glance all sorted and tagged. But during Sorting my bots placed items all over the place ...Guns here, Ammo there,
Fuel rods everywhere BUT the reactor room.
