Can't pick up dropped scooter

playing a multiplayer game and whenever we drop scooters we are unable to pick it back up

I've encountered this (or similar) while in a multiplayer server, in our case the scooter literally disappeared entirely. Perhaps it dropped backwards to Layer 10,000 (i.e. behind everything, including the game background), who knows. Didn't find a solution.
