How can you improve Orca 2's reactor output?
I was playing with my friend and bought ourselves an Orca 2 as it seemed to be a very good ship. Fast forward 15 minutes into the future and we're struggling to dock the ship. The power shuts down every few seconds even if I try changing directions slowly rather than suddenly. The ship is barely operatable is what I'm trying to say. Can anything be done about it? I don't want those 13k marks to just get wasted because of this, and Orca 2, again, seems very cool. Any advise I found online was either non-descriptive or potentially outdated, can somebody help?

Either someone mess up the wiring, forgot to turn off fabricator or both.

Or simply forgot that Orca 2 need 2 fuel rods to run. Basically ship with fabricator will have extra 1k load on top of batteries and super capacitor. Since your last ship is a dugong.

Better fuel rods, certain talents, submarine upgrades. Increasing efficiency of other devices will also do the trick, as does careful and less reactive navigation.

Investing on electrical maintenance upgrades and crew/talents can also help since that electrical room can easily flood.

Oh. So it not only eats fuel faster than all other tier 2 subs, but also requires two rods to function efficently. Neat. I wish I knew that before buying it. And no, the fabricator was off and the wiring was intact.

Use four fuel rods at once.

I'd much rather switch back to Dugong and buy something I have experience with (basically only Herja), I kinda don't have enough money to use that much fuel.

It's not any less efficient than using the rods one at a time, if that's your concern.

Alright, so I can either have my fuel supply last for longer or actually be able to control the sub. Well then, I'm gonna grab some reactor-related upgrades and a second engineer so I'll be able to have both Buzzin' and Cruisin' and I might actually be able to control this ship. Maybe I was a bit overconfident after using Herja so much in singleplayer, but I geniunely rarely have serious problems with that ship's systems.

Allow me to reiterate. Your fuel supply isn't going to drain any faster if you put in four at once. Using rods one at a time or all at once provides the same amount of runtime overall.

Fuel are the least of your worry since they are available both in electric and general store. To throw at least two of them. your short time goal should be upgrading all equipment like from diving suit to combat diving suit and normal quality items to good or excellent. And ammunition production. Which hard to do in a Dugong.

Oh, wait really? Well then, thank you very much, I thought they all drain individually with their regular speed. So they will last for the same amount of time as if I was using them individually, did I get that right?

Yes.
Multiple rods = more heat = lower fission rate = lower consumption

Well, thank you very much. One last question, can it be safely left on automatic control or do I have to look into component-based reactor controllers?

reactor controller will give you better result since they are far responsive to load but something wrong with mine today.

When you're putting in the rods you'll want to manually stabilize it, but from that point onward the vanilla auto-control should handle itself quite well.

Alrigh, and again, thank you very much.
