HELP!!! Invincible floating wires in Sub Editor!!
Greetings Barotrauma community, specificly, SUB BUILDERS!!

I am currently working on my first sub - its been a learning process and shes a doozy.
Im planning on having her released a few months before v1.0 so i can update here for (hopefully) new players to have fun with!

Im hoping you all enjoy her!

HOWEVER, during the build i deleted a prefab autodock hatch and while the ITEMS associated with it deleted, the wires connecting the items did not!
They are invincible!!
I can move them everywhere, change their properties, but they are not associated with any item or connected to anything... they meerly EXIST! PLEASE HELP ME GET RID OF THEM!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2932866089

If i load the sub, they are not there - however, if i test the sub and take a look for them, they will be... and after, once i return to the editor, theyre there again!

Even if i copy+paste my sub with the wires either present or unselected, they STILL copy with the sub into the new project.

Please help me be rid of them!!

Most sincerely,
ebe

Just backspace-delete them? Worst case just put it inside the submarine's hull and pretend it was all a nightmare :captainsmooth:

This sometimes happens when using item assemblies, that's why the best thing is to make things yourself.
Those wires are connected on both ends and to remove them you either need to find those items and disconnect each wire manually OR place a blue wire anywhere Shift+RightClick -> "Select all similar items"(or whatever it's called) then remove ALL blue wires unconditionally.

To this date there's no way to highlight which items are connected to a wire and the edit wire mode is still incompatible with change history so you can't Ctrl+Z either.

As a self taught pretty experienced sub builder, I have a few ideas on what to do. First of all try to trace the wire back and make sure it isn't connected to anything, because I know for a fact that wires don't just "exist" without something to connect to, meaning you have a crazy bug, or (most likely) you have a connection somewhere. The wire coming out of the slot is easy to identify as it will have no labels above it or anything. Since it's your docking hatch it's highly likely that the wires are connected to the toggle docking output of your navigation terminal.

If you still can't fix it then I say just give up on deleting it, and set the wire's sprite depth to .999.

Guys,

Theres nothing left to delete the wires, or disconnect, the wires from :(

The items that were associated with were removed +15hrs ago during the build... they just have never disappeared with the items they were originally connected to when they were initially deleted.

ive tried resetting the wires parameters
ive tried reloading the sprite to see if its a render bug
ive even tried TRYING to reconnect them to a new item, then disconnect them to see if they despawn and they wont/cant even connect to something else.

I can add nodes to the wires and delete them, but i cant remove the nodes on each end of the wire that seems to keep them in existence.

When the original items were deleted, the wires were multi noded. When the items were deleted, the WIRE segment on each side connecting to each item was deleted (with the item), but the wires between the nodes remained.

for instance, if i had:
ITEM_1 - WIRE - NODE - WIRE - NODE - WIRE - ITEM_2

deleting ITEM_1 and ITEM_2 would result in the deletion of
ITEM_1 - WIRE
WIRE - ITEM_2

and im stuck with what remains...
NODE - WIRE - NODE
...seven of them hanging in mid air.

If you can't delete the wire then delete the ship. Highlight the sub but not the wire. Ctrl+x create new sub ctrl+v.

Hmmmm no... i havent published it because it isnt finished.
I just put Aux Engines in it last night.

Is there a way to publish but keep it private? Shes not ready for v1.0 yet.

Other then that i was just thinking of hiding the wires in the structure as recommended above an add a release not indicating if other modders figure a way to kill the wires, pass it on and ill update the sub.

Hi, you can publish it with an "unfinished" description and describing your issue and why you are uploading it if you are afraid of bad ratings or nasty comments. I'm sure the community will understand. Anyway, as for the nasty comments, we moderators would intervene anyway, so you're safe. :captainsmooth:
