beacon sidequest help
Hi. I'm still very new to the game, and there's so much to learn so i'm just trying out the game on a singleplayer campaign to get familiar with it.

So, there's this side mission to turn on a beacon station or something and I can't figure it out. It took me a few tries (after telling the NPC's to actually not drive away with the sub, and after getting all the tools & equipment to the beacon station), and now I'm stuck.

I've fixed all the damaged things, stopped the leaks, closed the airlock, flipped the power switch, turned on the drainage pump, and it didn't seem to complete the objective and the whole place is still flooded. I feel like i'm missing something obvious but I honestly can't figure it out while looking at it, could I get some advice on what to do?

Turned on, and set to pump water out?

Though that doesn't really matter. The moment the beacon is on (i.e. sonar fully functional) the beacon's installations stop taking damage.

Both the sonar monitor and the transducer outside the station require power and signal connections.

You need to find the sonar monitor and turn it on. It probably looks like the one your captain uses. If turning the sonar monitor on doesn't work you need to trace the power back to the reactor with a screw driver and check for faults.

You may also need to verify the sonar monitor is connected to the sonar transducer. But if this is your first sonar beacon it very well should already be connected.

I didn't check much of the stuff on the outside and that's probably the reason why i messed up.

I'm also somewhat unfamiliar with the wiring of things but i assume its just connecting the wires to the correct things, in which case it should be easy

I'll keep these in mind the next time i come across a beacon station. Thanks everyone for the help!

If you wish to learn a bit more about beacons (or outposts and other stations) you can take a look at them in the submarine editor. The conditions in which the beacons and other things are found in the campaign proper will vary of course.
