PSA: Clowns will be nerfed next update!!
For all those who praise the Honkmother, it is my job to make you aware that the upcoming update plans to gut Clown Power!

Yes, indeed, for those of us who enjoyed swimming around outside the ship, protected from crush depth by the power of silliness alone, Clown Power will no longer prevent death from pressurization.

While I understand that the dev may wish to limit the level of the Honkmother's supernatural influence so that the uninitiated will not be intimidated by her, I also detest that I am now forced to wear the crude metal bindings of the common crewmate.

I humbly request that If this developer wishes to remove the power of the Honkmother to protect her followers from the embrace of the deep sea, then at the very least, a new diving suit recipe should be added to the clown talent tree to reflect the wearer's allegiance to the Honkmother. Preferably something with clown makeup and polka dots painted on, and perhaps more.

Thank you for your time.

P.S. - All is not lost, though. Psycho Clown won't force you to walk any more, so that's nice.

Yeah but then you've got to find a server running said hypothetical mod. Easier said than done/

The new talents they wanted to feel important will only be accessible to singleplayer and server hosts. None of this is new and has been happening for the last 5 or so updates.

Yeah. They could have made the first four talents cheaper to unlock but no, they really just nerfed the ♥♥♥♥♥ out of multiplayer experiences.

What they need to do is allow the server to set an XP multiplier.

Can you list all the perks for Clown on unstable and their effects?

I am glad at least you mentioned psycho clown no longer forces you to walk. I liked using that perk with some Deleriumine or whatever so I'm insane 24/7 but the "forced to walk" penalty felt like overkill for a melee oriented skill. (And the 24/7 insanity feels like more than enough of a "penalty" for running it.)

EDIT: I just checked. Clown hammer can no longer implode people!? :(

Good.

Useful Clowns are blasphemious and insulting the Honkmother.

Before rework clown was better at combat then sec and better at healing then medic. Now they are support oriented class based around clown tools.
Chunky honks are can stunlock any small and medium enemies even through walls, Psycho killer got buffed, and now you can run with it. Reviving downed people and applying combat stim isn't exactly infinitly healing horns, but still strong enough. I would still like to see presure immunity on a clown diving mask, considering how inefficient it is at consuming oxygen, and something else for a first talent, but overall clown is what it should be.

I'm excited for the rework, this next update will be controversial and i'm going to enjoy it =]

I don't see this as being focused on single player at all

You don't really seem to get why it's controversial though. I'm also a fan of the talent rework, but there are serious changes that should be made because as it is currently, it needs to be adjusted.

I don't see this as being focused on single player at all

Because, like Muu-Muu mentioned in their post, most players who play multiplayer aren't spending days on one single server. Most servers are up for a few hours and then go down because they're hosted by players, they're not barotrauma official.

Because EXP isn't carried over between multiplayer servers, that means most people get two to three talent points in before the server shuts off. Then they have to change to a different one. And you have to keep in mind that the new talent system forces you to spend four talent points on generalist perks before you get to have anything especially cool or specialized for your role.

Meanwhile in single player you have save points, loading, etc. Therefore you're much more likely to be getting to those talent trees.

That's what they mean.

This might be why i don't see any of this as an issue, i host my own games and have found reliable crew, or i join other peoples games who i know are hosting at certain times. I'm used to be being able unlock entire talent trees on multiplayer.

The part i dont like is how the max level is lowered because you can only go down 1 talent tree after the generalist perks. Not sure if there are XP changes coming as well but in most of the campaigns ive been on people starting hitting max level around the end of biome 2.

As for Barotrauma official servers has there been talk of them starting some? I'm skeptical official servers will ever be a thing unless there are some big changes to the structure of the game.

Not really my point. I was just trying to illustrate the fact that most servers are not consistent, compared to how they might be if there were official servers. As far as I know, there are no plans for official servers. I was just making a point.
Buggy Boy Nov 19, 2022 @ 12:44am
If players switch between multiplayer servers and are not consistent with their play then that's their doing, it's no fault of the game or the players who host those servers. When I played multiplayer I found good servers and stuck with them, I earned my talent points easily enough with the rest of the crew over a period of several days as I would return to the same server each time it was active. It doesn't matter whether the server is up for an hour or six, when that server gets turned off for the day then just leave the game, return when it's back online, or if you're really addicted then play in another server, but consistency has to be a player choice if they want to earn XP and talent points.

NEET take. "Oh well it's your fault you decided to join a multiplayer game that got shut down three hours after you joined and your friends have jobs so they can't play at the same time you do haha skill issue lmao"

Simple fact of the matter is that it was already a pain in the ass and almost a prerequisite to friend server hosts if you wanted to get more than two talents into a tree. This is just worsening the problem.
