Yeah. They could have made the first four talents cheaper to unlock but no, they really just nerfed the ♥♥♥♥♥ out of multiplayer experiences.
What they need to do is allow the server to set an XP multiplier.
I am glad at least you mentioned psycho clown no longer forces you to walk. I liked using that perk with some Deleriumine or whatever so I'm insane 24/7 but the "forced to walk" penalty felt like overkill for a melee oriented skill. (And the 24/7 insanity feels like more than enough of a "penalty" for running it.)
EDIT: I just checked. Clown hammer can no longer implode people!? :(
No, but it turns you into a cruddy discount doctor... after 9 talents spent!!! Seems a bit much.
Good.
Useful Clowns are blasphemious and insulting the Honkmother.
Chunky honks are can stunlock any small and medium enemies even through walls, Psycho killer got buffed, and now you can run with it. Reviving downed people and applying combat stim isn't exactly infinitly healing horns, but still strong enough. I would still like to see presure immunity on a clown diving mask, considering how inefficient it is at consuming oxygen, and something else for a first talent, but overall clown is what it should be.
I don't see this as being focused on single player at all
You don't really seem to get why it's controversial though. I'm also a fan of the talent rework, but there are serious changes that should be made because as it is currently, it needs to be adjusted.
Because, like Muu-Muu mentioned in their post, most players who play multiplayer aren't spending days on one single server. Most servers are up for a few hours and then go down because they're hosted by players, they're not barotrauma official.
Because EXP isn't carried over between multiplayer servers, that means most people get two to three talent points in before the server shuts off. Then they have to change to a different one. And you have to keep in mind that the new talent system forces you to spend four talent points on generalist perks before you get to have anything especially cool or specialized for your role.
Meanwhile in single player you have save points, loading, etc. Therefore you're much more likely to be getting to those talent trees.
That's what they mean.
This might be why i don't see any of this as an issue, i host my own games and have found reliable crew, or i join other peoples games who i know are hosting at certain times. I'm used to be being able unlock entire talent trees on multiplayer.
The part i dont like is how the max level is lowered because you can only go down 1 talent tree after the generalist perks. Not sure if there are XP changes coming as well but in most of the campaigns ive been on people starting hitting max level around the end of biome 2.
As for Barotrauma official servers has there been talk of them starting some? I'm skeptical official servers will ever be a thing unless there are some big changes to the structure of the game.
Not really my point. I was just trying to illustrate the fact that most servers are not consistent, compared to how they might be if there were official servers. As far as I know, there are no plans for official servers. I was just making a point.
NEET take. "Oh well it's your fault you decided to join a multiplayer game that got shut down three hours after you joined and your friends have jobs so they can't play at the same time you do haha skill issue lmao"
Simple fact of the matter is that it was already a pain in the ass and almost a prerequisite to friend server hosts if you wanted to get more than two talents into a tree. This is just worsening the problem.
