how to loot any creature?

i seem to be unable to loot anything off the creatures i kill. according to the wiki all the critters i killed (crawler, hammerhead, moloch) have something but i do not get how i proceed. there's nothing in the UI indicating that i can loot or where to kill. that's bothering me more and more... anyone know something? is there a trick to looting? do _I_ have to kill the monster?

Grab the corpse (default key G, iIrc). That'll allow you to access the "inventory".

For bigger creatures (like hammerheads and molochs) only a relatively small area is grabbable.

approach the body, grab and transfer the loot from alien inventory to your own.

Good to know. I thought Molochs were simply unlootable!

Yeah, sometimes the mobs can be a real challenge to latch onto so you can go through their (meat) pockets. I've had times where it was a real challenge to grab even crawlers just so I could harvest some alien blood.
