mod replaces clown faction
It's supposed to be a nod to the gameified autism that is SS13. But they do look out of place and stick out like a sore thumb in a game that's otherwise very serious and takes itself very seriously.
The other side is quite litteraly chaotic trolls which comes in various sub catagories. I tottaly get the amusement this can generate and how the game can be played in a few different ways. The clown side is simply not for me. Play with the right people and suddenly its a non-issue.
This answer has no merit though. As someone stated before this whole thing is forced on us and literally breaks immersion and just promotes trolling. If it was something as simple as paying homage to the game that came before with references or a wink here and there then that would be accurate. And then you instead of just a simple answer you mock him with your "serious" comment instead and then go on your random clowns are about life and creation bit? Your just being a ♥♥♥♥ and feeding the other trolls on here.
I guess I could say that in Metal Gear there is a recurrent character who has constant digestive issues. It's a character that is very important to the story - some kind of Deus Ex Machina thing, he often helps Snake and other characters when a situation seems desperate. This character can't be removed and is part of the main story throughout the series and even figures in key cutscenes. This character is even "reproduced" since we see his son ( and grandson if my memory is correct ) and the youngest ends up with the romantic interest of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4. It's meant as a comic relief in an otherwise very serious situation and, let's be honest, is not very immersive to say the least.
It depends on how you see it. Maybe the cardboard box is optional, just like the other odd things found in Metal Gear... But I dare you to find one person on this planet who hasn't picked up and used a single funny item in that franchise. There's just too many to avoid. That's what I meant. There are things in games that may not "fit" according to the main product, but they're still there.
As for your accusations that I'm mocking someone with a serious comment, I reject them. I've always been considerate and respectful of others here. If OP thought my comment was disrespectful in any way, I can sincerely say that it wasn't my intention and I even apologize if it came off as rude or something like this. On the contrary, I wrote a pretty big message in order to show respect to someone's opinion that is different to mine.
I don't think there have been much "trolls" since I posted here ( unless you count that peculiar mod as a troll move - I don't, I think it was a lighthearted joke, and I feel safe in saying the other moderators thought the same ). We had no user reports from anyone ever since concerning this thread, no reply has been flagged.
I believe the later part of your reply was unnecessary and rude, and is not contributing to anything. Let's leave it at that.
I believe it's alright to voice your opinion, even when you disagree with me, but it has to be done with to the very least some minimal respect. Please remember this next time you write to me or anyone else on this board.

Similar to Fallout, it’s a mostly serious world absolutely filled with absurdities.
Friend begged me every day for months to get this game, first 4 hours playing with him all he did was spam clown stuff (Drugging me, blowing up reactors, constantly killing ai crew-mates, etc) as I was learning the game, didn't even know the basic controls apart from wasd. It killed my excitement for it and I never really got back into it due to it.
Clowns are great in multiplayer but when runs get killed every few minutes "just because clown" it gets very tedious and boring
