Good to know, I thought it was just a basic manual setup. :) I just looked at it on the editor and the system seems a bit convoluted to me lol.
Pros: Automation, dedicated supercapacitor, takes less power than default, standard range of discharge should be perfectly sufficient for that angle of the sub, the motion detector is properly configured to ignore dead monsters and non-monster targets.
Cons: Can't be quickly primed by captain, the area of motion detector is very narrow and quite short, the automated system doesn't really cover the entire front section of the hull on its own even when the electric discharge itself should easily cover the entire front blind spot.
Fortunately there's a lot of opportunity to rewire the system at least partially, but some components are hidden inside the hull. They may be accessible with little help from your friendly neighborhood plasma cutter.
